Abstract Vol. 2

Abstract Vol 2 is a new book from Georgia Farrell that uses Summerlite 4ply and Kidsilk Haze. The book is available online and in the store.

Abstract Vol 2 is the highly anticipated follow up to Georgia Farrell’s original Abstract collection. Building upon the strong graphic feel of the first collection, Georgia has carefully balanced a mix of tessellating, geometric patterns and collage-style colour blocks through the use of contrasting lines, angles and shapes. Featuring two yarns – Summerlite 4ply and Kidsilk Haze – this collection of eight designs including sweaters, tees and cardigans, offers different options and a choice of punchy, fresh colourways.

Lynn was in the store with me today because I had an appointment this afternoon. She has all the Rowan unpacked and hidden for Friday. I started on the website. A brand new yarn has been added and will go live Friday morning. I will try and get the rest of the new books online so they can go live then as well.

I took this picture from Rowan’s Facebook page. A little sneak peek at a new design for spring.

Lynn also put away a box from Cascade with a restock of Cascade 220. We have black, white, light grey and navy back in stock.

My dad is being inducted into the Hamilton/Halton Construction Association Hall of Fame in April. They wanted pictures of him over the years. Beth found a bunch but only sent me this one.

I’m going to try and knit a few rows while I watch The Price is Right with dad.

Rowan Magazine No. 77

Rowan Magazine No. 77 is now available online for preorder. I can’t wait to share the beautiful garments with you.

Lisa K. Ross (Paper Daisy Creations) has a new shawl pattern. You can purchase the pattern for Among the Wildflowers on Ravelry.
No matter what time of year it is, dreaming of wildflower fields always conjures a peaceful moment. This top-down triangular shawl creates your very own field of wildflowers to enjoy all year long, with an extended wingspan that makes it so easy to wear. Brightly colored minis pair with a dark, high-contrast semi-solid create graphic results, or choose lower contrast for a more subtle approach. Each color is only used one at a time, so no stranding is required to create this eye-catching accessory that will ensure that you are forever Among the Wildflowers.

The shawl is knit with fingering weight yarn so you have many options.

Emma’s put together some kits and we will have them at the end of the month.

The movers brought all the furniture that was in storage. I started to get the guest room ready.
Dad and the dogs are comfortable.

There hasn’t been any knitting. Maybe tomorrow.

Getting Ready for Summer

It was a beautiful day and has me thinking about spring/summer knitting. This is the Cumulus Tee from PetiteKnit (pattern purchased on Ravelry)

The Cumulus Tee is worked in stockinette stitch and has a rounded V-neck in the front. The sleeves are elbow length, and all edges are finished in i-cord. The Cumulus Tee requires no finishing work at the end.

Rowan Summerlite 4ply would be a great option for the sweater. You didn’t read it here but there will be 4 new colours on Friday.

Summerlite 4ply is made using 100% of the finest cotton resulting in a beautifully soft, matt yarn, which boasts a wonderful, summery tonal colour palette. This yarn is a perfect choice for spring and summer designs such as a pretty shrug or evening time cardigan. It has brilliant stitch definition, meaning that all types of textures are showcased perfectly.

I’m working from home tomorrow and my goal is to get the website updated. Rowan Magazine #77 will be online tomorrow for preorder. Then I need to add Crazy Zauberball, Snuggly DK, Rowan Cotton Cashmere, Rowan Summerlite DK and update a few other yarns.

There are also orders to be placed. We need more Mode at Rowan Cotton DK. The yarn and patterns have been a hit so far.

We taped The Price is Right and are watching it now. It’s time for the Showcase Showdown. Have a good evening!

Happy Saturday

Tanis Lavallee has a new pattern called the Cambridge V. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.
Vests are best! Ever since completing my original Cambridge Vest, which features a crew neck, I knew I needed a v-neck version. I love how the v-neck adds lots of options in terms of layering and depending on what you choose to pair it with you can create a new and dynamic neck line that really draws the eye up. Endlessly versatile. My vest phase is definitely not over!

One option is a fingering weight with a silk/mohair blend. The other option is a worsted weight yarn.

Mr. FedEx came yesterday with 7 boxes from Rowan. The new yarn and all the books have arrived for the launch this Friday. There are new colours of existing yarns plus one new yarn. I can’t share more at this time but will as soon as I can.

If you looked at the blog last night there wasn’t a post. I wrote it and totally forgot to hit Publish. It’s there now - I back dated it to yesterday. Make sure you take a look - we have a new store sample.

House Blend Dyed in the Wool. This was in the box that Mr. UPS brought this week. It has a purple tone to it which makes me happy.

I couldn’t find Fred last night. He was passed out behind the couch.
Fred was helping dad eat breakfast this morning.
I forgot to give a shout out to Oneida Movers for everything they did to make our move go smoothly. Tuesday morning they will bringing everything that is in storage from dad’s house.

I’m going to try and get some knitting done this weekend. I pulled out a project yesterday and realized that I made a mistake 10 rows back. My knitting time was spent ripping back. Now it’s on track and I can continue.

Spacetime

I stopped by the store this morning so Lynn and I could ship out boxes. Lynn modeled a new sweater that Deidre just finished.

Pattern: Spacetime 18 by Heidi Kirrmaier (purchased on Ravelry)

Yarn: Le Lambswool

Colour: Soft Green Grey

# of Balls: 7

Size: M2

Neck: Rolled Edge

Shaping: A-Line

Needles: 5mm for the body and 5.5mm for the sleeves

It is knit seamlessly from the top down in the round, starting with the collar. The yoke shaping is neither raglan nor round; it’s a bit of both!

Options:

The pattern includes 3 options, that you can mix and match: rolled or ribbed edges; straight or A-line body shape; basic (m1l and m1r) or invisible lifted increases. If you are unsure which edge you prefer, you can make a swatch with one edge style on each end, and wash and dry it to see how they behave.

The sweater fits Lynn perfectly. I left and don’t know if she wore it the rest of the day.

Then I went to the old house to get the last few things out. Goodbye to a great house.

I’m back in the store tomorrow. There is a box from Spincycle to open and a restock of Crazy to get on the website.
