LYS Day

Happy Saturday

It feels like a knitting day here in Ancaster. It is cold and cloudy.

Brian Smith has a new shawl pattern knit in Malabrigo Rios. You can purchase the pattern for Orchard Walk on Ravelry.

This top down triangle uses a beautiful shade of green from Malabrigo Yarns in a worsted weight. Three stitch patterns create texture and interest across the garment, then it is finished with a garter stitch border.

We have Apple Green Rios is stock.

Yesterday afternoon I did a Zoom call with Rowan for Flagship Friday. They talk to different Flagship Rowan stores about different topics. This was the display behind me while I was talking. Lots of pretty Rowan garments.

My post is going to be short - it’s tea, knitting, movie time. Tonight we’re watching In the Line of Fire with Clint Eastwood.

Lynn was busy

Lynn came in with me today to unpack boxes and fill shelves.

The new colours of Tough Love Sock have a home in sock world.

Lynn also put away (she was very busy)

  • Addi Turbo needles
  • Noro Ito
  • Spincycle Dyed in the Wool (Not on the website yet)
  • Sirdar Snuggly 3ply, 4ply and DK
  • Mode at Rowan Softest Alpaca
  • Crazy Zauberball

We received 4 boxes of Patagonia today. The website is updated and I added more kits for the DRK Everyday Cardi.

Here is Lynn’s DRK Everyday Cardi in case you missed my pictures from a week ago.

Our order from Atenti should be here in a few weeks. Here is a peak at some of the bags coming in the order.

There are more that I will share next week. I had a long day today so it’s time to watch the Price is Right with dad and work on my ribbing.

Fading Point

I wore my Fading Point last week and it brought back great memories of making the shawl. I loved the construction and playing with 5 different colours. Joji writes a great pattern and it is very easy to follow. I would definitely make this shawl again.

The pattern is by Joji Locatelli and you can purchase it on Ravelry.

From Joji

Last year I designed a pattern called Starting Point, and it was a Mystery KAL. I loved that pattern so much, and it was truly nerve-wracking to present it as a mystery. Would people like a big rectangle wrap as much as I did?

Fortunately, I think many did! Which encouraged me to keep exploring that construction, and it also gave me the confidence to design more maxi-scarves or wraps. And when La Bien Aimée created these colors for me to design with, all I could picture was this wrap. I just knew it. The moment I saw it, I knew what it had to become!

Fading Point is constructed from both ends towards the centre, and then both pieces are connected with triangles to achieve a seamless rectangle.

The pattern is completely different than its predecesor: It has sections where you blend 2 colors together and then sections with lace. The instructions are WRITTEN AND CHARTED.

I put together kits and they are available in the store and online. The colours of my shawl are no longer available but this combination is close. My shawl was knit in Hedgehog Sock.

Now it’s time for some chores around the house and a bit of knitting.
Before hitting Publish I went back through blog posts. This is Alex’s Fading Point. I will try and find colours like this tomorrow.

SweetGeorgia

It was a busy day with lots of boxes arriving. We received 7 boxes in total. One had eight brand new colours of Tough Love Sock from SweetGeorgia.

The colours are online and available in the store.

80% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon
425 yards / 388 m per 4 oz / 115g skein

A perfect blend of warmth and strength to make a hardwearing sock yarn that can stand up to your affection and abuse. Tough Love Sock is our best-selling yarn and knits up beautifully into fine-gauge sweaters, small shawls, as well as socks! Spun from 80% superwash and super soft merino and 20% nylon, this 3-ply yarn is so versatile, knit it firmly for hard wearing socks, knit it loosely for drapey shawls or knit it doubled for a great worsted weight substitute.

The new colours got me thinking about Alpine Bloom (pattern purchased on Ravelry). Here are some of the sweater that were made during our KAL.

Here are some combinations that I put together. I hoped to get them online today but I don’t think it’s in the cards. I still have 6 more boxes to unpack.
Slushie and Love Spell
Limeade and Side Quest
Creamsicle and Eleventh Hour
Sea Glass and Dear Diary
Unicorn Hair and Always Yours
Hydrangea and Soft Power
Cupcake and Cold Comfort
Pop Corn and Side Quest

I then put together some combinations using Tough Love Sock and Crazy Zauberball. You will need one ball of Zauberball for sizes 36” - 52” finished bust.
Limeade with 2456
Limeade with 2473
Sea Glass and 2473
Hydrangea with 2546
Popcorn with 2546
Popcorn with 1699
We have kits online (and in the store) for the Symphony Shawl. The kit is knit with SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock Micro Skeins. There were 2 more colourways in the box but I wasn’t able to get decent pictures.

Fifteen hues in rich jewel tones are enough to delight anyone, but the added blend of lace and easy colourwork takes it over the top. Knitters of every level will find pure joy in working this asymmetrical triangular shawl.

I should be working on the website but it’s time to knit.
