Happy Canada Day

Mr. Canada Post brought a big box of Opal yesterday morning. These aren’t online yet. That is tomorrow’s job. Don’t forget that Opal collections are not repeated. If you see colours you like please don’t wait. Once they are sold out we can’t get the anymore.
Here are two more new colours from Hedgehog. Heartbreaker and Mood Ring.

I love Andrea Mowry’s Birds of a Feather Shawl. We’ve had different samples knit over the years.

I put together a few combinations while I was in the store yesterday.

Peony
Pressed Flowers
Ballet Slipper
Pillow Fort
Rain on Violets

Wow was it hot today. The plan was for dad and I to go to the Warplane Heritage Museum this morning. It was a good way to spend a few hours. Neither of us has been before. It was so hot out that I wasn’t taking dad out - he might not have made it home. Then we had a huge storm and the temperature has dropped. Until tomorrow morning when it gets crazy hot again.
I made it to the first colour on Grevillia. Sorry for the awful pictures. I was rushing to get my post finished since I didn’t write yesterday.
Once I get into the next colour I will get much better pictures. Now it’s bed time - tomorrow is going to be busy. I have lots of orders to pack (thank you everyone who placed an order today) and then I need to work on the website. I won’t be putting yarn away in the fingering weight room. That room isn’t air conditioned and it was hot yesterday so I can only imagine how hot it will be tomorrow.

Happy Hedgehog Day

Mr. UPS stopped by this morning with 3 large boxes from Hedgehog. I pulled out a few of the new colours for pictures.

Pigeon and Wisp
Dreamland and Ballet Slipper
Pressed Flowers, Pillow Fort and Rain on Violets.

I’m working on getting the yarn on the website. I should have had the pictures online and ready to go but I wasn’t feeling great last week and I didn’t have it in me.

Kits for Find Your Fade in the colours that Andrea Mowry used are available online and in the store.

Skinny Singles and Kidsilk Lace have been added to the website. I will work on the rest tomorrow. We have new colours in Merino DK, Twist Sock and Hedgehog Sock.

La Storia

Here is Isabell Kraemer’s latest sweater.

La Storia is a beautifully textured t-shirt, worked seamlessly from the top down.
The first part of the yoke is worked back and forth in rows.
Once the V-neck shaping is complete, the yoke is worked in rounds with raglan increases to the final yoke depth, where sleeve stitches are put on hold.
From this point the body is worked in rounds down to the ribbing. Then sleeve stitches are picked up again to work the sleeves in rounds top down to the cuffs.
V-neck finishing is worked last.

You can purchase the pattern for La Storia on Ravelry.

The sweater is knit with fingering weight yarn - you have many yarn options.

The first two pattern repeats of Grevillia are finished. I was hoping to make it to the colours tonight but I had a busy day. Laundry, washing floors and grocery shopping ate into my knitting time. It was also a busy sports day so I was continually changing channels. What a great soccer game!!!!

Our little super hero

Boscoe donated blood on Thursday afternoon. After he was finished they put him in a super hero cape and took pictures. Beth said he was so good.

Yesterday’s purchases

-brand new colours of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool that will be here sometime this fall

Dream Journal
Fresh Air
Peas in a Pod

-Lantern Moon interchangeable needle sets

-Zing interchangeable needle sets and double pointed needles

There are a few colours of Dyed in the Wool that aren’t going to be produced right now. We are offering these colours for $36 a skein. Don’t miss out.

One of my Traveler Cowls knit in Sea Spray. You need 3 skeins and 3.75mm needles.
This is New Leaf and we used Dyed in the Wool Every Rose for the contrast colour.

Beth sent pictures from the cottage. The dogs were hot on the boat so they came home for a swim. Jackson and Fred just walk around in the lake.
That’s Fred just walking around. I’m not sure he knows how to swim.
There was a bit of fishing after dinner. Fred won’t get off the boat. If Beth can’t find she goes down to the water and he’s either on the boat or sitting on the dock trying to get on the boat.

Anemoia Shawl

Andrea Mowry has a new shawl pattern that you can purchase on Ravelry.

DETAILS
What are your must-have’s for a comfort knit? Mine are always squishy yarn combined with something that has areas of relaxing rhythm (hello Garter, my old friend) to balance out sections of deeper thinking (Brioche - buddy!) or interest (Nupps, anyone?). This shawl brings it all together with simple sideways shaping that creates a very easy-to-wear shawl. I hope you love it!

SIZES
One (with notes on how to adjust to your preference)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Wingspan - 86”/218.5 cm
Center Depth - 20”/51 cm

YARN REQUIREMENTS
These are just approximations. Total yarn usage will depend on the yarn you use (fiber content, ply, etc.), your personal gauge, and any modifications you may make.

Worsted Weight Wool - Approximately 300 g/750 yds/690 m

For worsted weight yarn I would suggest Cascade 220 Superwash Merino or Malabrigo Rios. They are both soft, drapey yarns.

I haven’t purchased the pattern yet but by looking at the pictures you are knitting it from tip to tip. You are increasing to a certain number of stitches and then decreasing again. This means you can use any yarn you choose - just swatch before you start to make sure you like the fabric.

One thing my doctor stressed is that I need to rest or I won’t start feeling better. Instead of putting yarn away after the outdoor sale I spent time today ordering yarn. Lots more yarn. Cascade 220, Cascade 220 Heathers and Lang Jawoll. Early next week I will do a large order of Cascade 220 Superwash Merino. I don’t want too many boxes arriving at once. We got notification that 3 large boxes are on the way from Hedgehog. YAY!!! And then another notification came through that the new Opal sock yarn should be here late next week.

Dad, Beth and the dogs are heading to the cottage tomorrow. Their plan is to come home on Monday so I won’t be joining them. I’ll have a few quiet days by myself.

Pattern Sale

Jennifer Steingass is having a pattern sale.

I had planned to run a sale on my birthday earlier this month, since I haven't done that in a while, but decided to have a lowkey day and went for a hike. So here is a semi-birthday sale ;)  Enjoy 40% off any of my patterns!  You can add your choice of patterns to your cart and the change will apply.  I hope you're enjoying beautiful weather and finding time to relax this season.

Lynn and I have knit her patterns - they are well written and easy to follow. Her patterns are size inclusive.

Tonight’s movie is The Sheep Detectives. I’m sitting at the counter writing while it’s on. Beth is yelling at me to hurry up and watch with them. Before joining them I placed an order with Malabrigo. Lots of Rios, Sock, Ultimate Sock and Washted.

Now it’s time to knit.
