Start of spring preview

Anne has been busy knitting with Rowan. Here are four projects that she has finished since fall. Very impressive.

This is Kaffe’s Paint Daubs from his Felted Tweed book that came out this past fall. The pattern was for a blanket but Anne cut down the number of stitches to make it a shawl.

The next three patterns are from Rowan Magazine #68.
This is Fiction knit in Brushed Fleece. Anne says that is a great jacket to wear around the house for a layer of warmth or as a bed jacket when reading at night.
Kincardine is knit in Felted Tweed. There is embroidery around the neck that Anne enjoyed doing.
Knit from the top down in Felted Tweed, this sleeved capelet features pretty feminine detailing and embroidery around the neckline. A rolled hem finishes the ribbed edges.

The last project is Marram. It is a gorgeous blanket designed in Creative Linen and Brushed Fleece.

Thank you Anne for sharing! Your garments are gorgeous. You can follow Anne’s knitting adventures on her YouTube channel.

More Honey

Mr. Canada Post dropped off a parcel from Lynda - another Honey Moss by Andrea Mowry (pattern purchased on Andrea’s website). This time we used 5 skeins of Kathmandu Aran in the colour Seaweed and it is gorgeous! I love this shawl. I could easily send Lynda yarn for another one but I think we’ll try something new.
It was really cold out so we did very quick pictures. When it is a warmer next week we will do another photo shoot.

Alex stopped by with my Painting Waves.

Thank you Alex - you did an awesome job. She even sewed in all my ends.

Last night after I decided it was time for a pretend trip I looked at the pictures on my computer and I was missing a lot from our trip to Phoenix. I went looking for my old phone that could have the pictures. I had two in my drawer and plugged them in. Yes, there were old photos. Please excuse the quality - Apple has made great strides with picture quality in the past 9 years.

PRETEND TRIP

We made it to our hotel safely last night. It is a long way down from our floor to the lobby.

Today we went to the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. We have been watching this on TV for years and what a treat to be able to go.

Thank goodness my dad wasn’t with us. Who knows what we would be coming home with.

We did a lot of walking today. There were a lot of cars to look at. Tomorrow is the first day of TNNA so I need to have a good night sleep.

It’s time for a Pretend Trip

Ambah O'Brien has a new pattern. What a beauty. Meet the Dianella Wrap (pattern purchased on Ravelry)

Knit yourself a cosy hug. Soothing garter stitch stripes are worked with a simple bias shaping for a relaxing knit, resulting in a wearable wrap — perfect for draping over your shoulders or wrapping around your neck when you’re in need of some warmth. There are many ways to play with colour with this wrap; use a colour-changing yarn contrasting with a solid and watch as they shift through the project. The stripes alternate between a fingering or light sport weight yarn and a lace weight kidsilk for a floaty result. You could also knit this with all fingering weight yarn for a warmer wrap. Dianella is the name for the beautiful Australian Flax lily, one of my favourites.

The shawl is knit with 3 skeins of Dyed in the Wool along with a lace weight mohair/silk blend (any of the yarns on the first page here). I didn’t see the pattern when I was in the store today or I would have put together colour combinations. That will be tomorrow’s job.

I purchased the pattern and it looks easy. Here are the abbreviations. All you need to know is knit and purl.

It’s that time - we’re going on a PRETEND TRIP. This time we are heading to Phoenix for TNNA. Ambah’s new shawl will be perfect airplane knitting. We will be in Phoenix later this evening.
