Happy Sunday

It’s a beautiful day out. I’m sitting outside working and watching TV.
I’m through 15 repeats on my Attune Shawl. I think I could have knit on one size bigger needle but I was afraid of the brioche being too loose. It will definitely loosen up with blocking.

Sunday breakfast at dad’s. He needs a much bigger kitchen.

Lucy is ready for her walk.
She didn’t make it far.

Dad spends a lot time sitting on the electrical boxes in the neighbourhood while he’s waiting for Lucy.

Jackson kept me company outside.
Jackson got a brushing.
Then it was Boscoe’s turn.

Happy Sunday!!!

A New Newleaf

Deidre dropped off our Newleaf yesterday. She did an amazing job on the sweater! I love the colours. The background is Le Petit Lambswool in Grey Beige and the colour work is Dyed in the Wool - Every Rose. The new colours of Le Petit Lambswool should be arriving on Monday and we will put together new combinations.

Here is a close up of the colours. When you look at a skein of Dyed in the Wool it looks like a mess of colours but you get stripes when you knit it.
This is Every Rose in a skein.

There are many, many finished Newleaf sweaters on Ravelry knit with Dyed in the Wool. If you want to see how a colour knits up in the sweater, enter the colour name in the search bar on my Ravelry link.

Zauberball Crazy is a great substitute for the colourwork if you don’t want to use Dyed in the Wool.

I was in the store early this morning and made up kits for Ric Rac. These are available online.

Ric Rac is a boomerang-shaped shawl that was designed for Local Yarn Shop Day 2022. It has swirls that look like ric rac, which was popular on kids clothing in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Casapinka’s LYS Day pattern is available for free with purchase of a combo.  The pattern will be released on LYS DAY April 30, 2022. With the purchase of the yarn you will receive a Ravelry download code.

These are just suggestions. I tried to make combinations close to the sample and a few more summery combinations. Pick any two skeins of fingering and make your own combination. Next Saturday (April 30th), purchase 2 skeins of hand dyed fingering weight in the store or online and we will give you the coupon code for the shawl pattern.

The garden is starting to bloom.
Dad and Lucy have gone home, the hockey game is on and it’s time to knit.

Akari

We have been waiting for a shipment of Noro Akari. The yarn is supposed to arrive in the US early next week and we should have it at the beginning of May.

Sarah knit Skylights with Akari and Biches & Buches Le Petit Silk & Mohair. I originally showed the pictures in black and white because we are almost out of Sarah’s colour. More will be in the shipment.

Akari col. 5 and le petit silk mohair colour grey beige

I did the first size.

I knit the body and part of an arm in one ball of Akari and ended the neck with about 5 meters of the third ball of mohair left. I have a 4th ball that I didn’t start. I knit the sleeves slightly longer so I’d get 4 balls off mohair if you want the body longer or are worried you’ll run out.

This is sweater was knit in a week! It is such a fun sweater if you need a break from knitting something more intricate or just need an inspirational boost! Instant gratification. Akari is beautiful yarn and so soft!

It feels like you are wearing a cloud!

You can purchase the pattern for Skylights on Tanis Lavallee’s website.

Can a sweater be light and drapey while at the same time being cozy and chunky? I think this sweater design proves that the answer to that question is a resounding YES! I really went for it with the design details, combining lace, cables, nupps, a wide neckline, an oversized fit and of course those statement puff sleeves! Knit at a loose gauge to create flattering drape, this sweater practically knits itself. You’ll be wearing your new favourite sweater before you know it!

Sarah modeled Cathy’s Skylights.
Cathy knit the second size and used 2 balls of Akari (colour #1) and 4 balls of Le Petit Silk & Mohair (light grey).

These are the 4 new colours of Akari that will be in the shipment.
"Akari" is a soft, worsted weight multi fiber blend that features organic silk and cotton. Translated to "light" or "glimmer" in English, the silk adds a beautiful sheen to this yarn. It is a delightful choice for knitting and crocheting multi-season garments.

We have knit many Nightshifts in Noro Akari. You need 2 balls - 1 ball each of 2 different colours. I can’t wait to make up combinations with the new colours.

My dentist appointment went okay but the freezing left me with a bad migraine. I spent the afternoon sleeping and didn’t make it to the store. Lynn unpacked yarn and needles today and I’ll get them online tomorrow.
