Rose Cardigan

Monday is my day to do work at home but I went to the store to meet Mr. Canada Post and give him lots of parcels. While I was there an out of town customer called to see if we were open. We talked for a bit and I put together a kit for her. I took pictures and she liked what I did and stopped by to pick up her yarn. I love her project and am going to share.

She wanted to make Andrea Mowry’s Rose Cardigan (pattern purchased on Ravelry or on Andrea’s website.)

This open cardigan is a true adventure in knitting! Combining unique sideways construction, cables, fading and exposed seams to create a flattering oversized dolman style sweater that looks great on all types of figures! Knit in one color or four, to suit your style! This sweater has a beautiful curved underarm that creates a lot of drape for an oversized look, with long, slim cuffs that give you different styling options. You can either wear them long, to accentuate the slender portion of your arm, or cuff them for a shorter sleeve!

The cardigan is knit in sport weight and we went with Tosh Sport.

I think this combination will be stunning.
Then I started thinking about other combinations. Above is
Dr. Zhivago
Asphalt
Soot
Optic

Below I switched out Dr Zhivago and put in Black Sea.

This is
Whiskey Barrel
Whiskers
Court & Spark
Silver Fox

A year ago, Doreen knit the cardigan and her’s is stunning.

You can see the details of Doreen’s cardigan and her notes on Ravelry.

I was up early this morning to be with Boscoe while Beth went to work. I was working at the breakfast bar (accounting 😂) when I could here some noise upstairs. This is what I found. Boscoe was having fun with a ball of Rockshelter sock. He likes the good stuff. Normally it’s Spincycle but I think I have all skeins hidden now.

Monday Sale July 27

Blossoms are center-pull cakes of joy!  Hand-dyed in floral-inspired gradients they are one continuous color-changing knit!  The colors magically meld into each other for a seamless color transformation.  For larger projects you can alternate between two or more cakes, for longer color sections.  Stripe with two or more cakes of different colors for fun color-play.
Blossoms are 80% superwash merino/20% nylon; great for socks, shawls, accessories, and lightweight garments.
Blossom specs: 4-ply fingering, 4-oz, 425 yards, 80% superwash merino/20% nylon
What can you knit with Blossoms?
This is a shawl inspired by a yarn, a yarn that is inspired by flowers. "Blossoms" are dyed as knitted blanks. Dyes are washed over the blank, building layer upon layer, creating seamless shifts from one color to another. Colors blend and overlap and a complex, cohesive colorway is developed. Striping two different colorways together allows the colors to shift and interact as you knit.
To start, Bidicot begins as a "V" shape—with my favorite decrease—a CDD (centered doubled decrease) creating a defined line from the cast-on that continues to the bind off. Once the width is reached, stitches will be "moved" from one side of the CDD to the other, turning the "V" into an elongated triangle. Tassels polish it off.
The pattern can be downloaded on Knitty.com.
The shawl is knit with 2 Blossoms - 1 each of Chrysanthemum and Lady Slipper.

We used 1 Blossom to make the Geology Shawl.

You can use 2 Blossoms to knit the Botanic Shawl.
(This is my Botanic Wrap knit in another yarn. If you use Blossoms, your striping sections will be longer)

Two Blossoms would make a great Butterfly.

Take a look at the projects on Ravelry that were knit using Blossoms.

Blossoms are on sale for $30 from now until Wednesday July 29, 2020 at 12pm EST. You can order on the website and have the yarn shipped or you can pick it up.

All sales final. No returns.

Haircut

I didn’t get the border finished but I’m close. Beth asked how much further I was knitting. I know I need to do a few more rows because I’m into the pink and then some purple.

I took this from Rowan’s Facebook page.
Rowan Magazine 68 is on its way, but will be slightly later this season due to the impact of the global lockdowns that many of us have experienced. The good news is that you won't have to wait too long and it will be available in stores from 1st September
And speaking of Rowan - more Creative Linen is on the way to us. Foggy, Teal, Natural and Silver. Churchmouse Yarns used 3 skeins of Creative Linen for their Easy Eyelet Poncho.
In possibly the simplest lace pattern that exists (it’s a one-row repeat!), we’ve reinterpreted this wrap in so many yarns over the years. Now we’ve seamed it into an easy poncho for a breezy, multi-season layer. Quick to knit, it’s got more holes than yarn!
You can purchase the pattern from Churchmouse Yarns - it is available as a download.
Or you can purchase it on Ravelry.

Boscoe had his hair cut on Friday. Now we can see his eyes.

He loves his swimming pool.

I’m on Boscoe duty in the morning because Beth has an early job meeting. I wish he would come and lie in bed with me for an hour but he is an active morning puppy. That means it’s almost bedtime. Maybe one more row before I head upstairs.

A visit from Lucy

I try hard to have new content for my posts but today I couldn’t come up with anything. I scrolled through my photos and found Free Your Fade. This is a super simple pattern from Andrea Mowry.
This shawl was created to be your favorite shawl pattern! Really relaxing garter stitch with engaging eyelet rows and endless color possibilities. It would be gorgeous knit up in one color, but you can just as easily use 20! I’ve extended the color melt sections for an even more cohesive fade, with easy instructions to add as many fade sections as you would like! The shawl is light weight and perfect year round when knit up in fingering weight yarn, but don’t let that stop you from knitting it up in any yarn weight you prefer to the size of your choosing!
Yarn: The possibilities are endless! This shawl can be knit using however many colors you want, with whatever yarn weight fits your fancy, to the size that fits you best! Free your fade and make it your own with this super adaptable pattern!!
I have knit a few Free Your Fades. After you’ve knit 20 rows you will have the pattern memorized. It’s perfect if you are going to the cottage or taking the kids to the park. Or maybe you are binge watching a great show on TV.

Dad and Lucy met me at the store this morning so that dad could tape more shipping boxes for me. That is his Saturday morning job. Lucy isn’t getting any smaller. I have to climb over her if I need to get to the other end of the store. She’s quite content lying there until it’s time to go home.

I’m working away on the border of my Botanic Shawl. I won’t get many rows knit tonight but hopefully I’ll finish tomorrow.

Newleaf

Wannietta finished another Passeggiata Wrap for me. This kit was Neutral Zone. We’re out of this colour but more kits are coming. We do have great colours ready to ship.
The wrap is stunning. Wannietta knit this one on a slightly bigger needle. She felt that her first one was a bit on the tight side.

Ms. UPS brought 3 huge boxes today.

There are many colours of Tosh merino light and Unicorn Tails. I will get these on the website over the weekend.

There was also a box from Biches & Buches. These are new colours of Le Petit Silk & Mohair. They will be added to the website over the weekend as well.
The newest colour of Le Petit Lambswool is amazing! Meet Light Pink Violet - this has been added to the website. Can’t you see a Botanic Wrap knit with it? I put it with Crazy 2355 and Dyed in the Wool Neveruary B.
I am going to dream about a Newleaf in this combination.
We’ve all knit the sweater and I know I’d make it again. Lynn is talking about making it with long sleeves. I’m sure we could convince Sarah that she needs another one 😘

I have a few rows in me before bed. Two more boxes were delivered by Canpar this afternoon that I didn’t even open. I’ll be in the store for a while tomorrow.
