“A fluffy guard against the frigid chill.”

The patterns from Churchmouse Yarns are incredible. Beautiful photography and well written patterns. This is their Shoulder Cozy. The original version was knit with a strand of Kidsilk Haze mixed with a strand of Summer Tweed. They reknit the Cozy for winter. We have copies in the store or you can purchase on Ravelry.
We’ve called it a capelet. And a poncho. And a cowl. And perhaps … a snood? We’ve always wondered what would happen if we just kept knitting away at our cherished Shoulder Cozy. Now we know! It’s a Cozy that doubles as a cowl for those colder days.
And using only one strand of Rowan’s Brushed Fleece, it is a generously fluffy guard against the frigid chill of mid-winter. A super soft blend of extra-fine merino wool and baby alpaca, Brushed Fleece is chunky and insulating, but remarkably light. The easy garter stitch has a rustic charm in this range of natural colors and ensures you’ll soon be all snuggled up in your Cozy.
Grab a copy of the pattern and the free adaptation explaining how to modify your Cozy for the cowl neck, as well as your yarn. You'll need 3 skeins of Brushed Fleece to make either size with a cowl.
Here is the link to the adaptation.

Caroline came in this morning with her Briochevron Blanket (pattern from Stephen West and is available on Ravelry). She is using a strand of tosh dk with a strand of fingering weight. The dk is light grey and will stay the same throughout the blanket and the fingering colours are left over from shawls. And a few new skeins because the colours were perfect. I'm in love. It's a pattern I've always wanted to do.
There is a little one in the stroller hiding under his Colorburst Blanket (pattern purchased on Ravelry). The colours are so much fun. Thanks to his mom and dad for bringing him in to show it off.

I arrived home to find our kitchen in chaos. Beth has decided to bake Christmas cookies. From scratch. The KitchenAid mixer came out of the box for the first time. The sugar cookies are chilling in the fridge. The shortbread mix is finished and will be going in the oven soon. This is going to be interesting.
