Stripes

This is Beth’s scarf that she knit with 2 colours of Zauberball Starke 6. It’s an easy pattern (knit every row in the round) and we give you the pattern when you purchase the yarn. Beth used 2095 and 2136.
This scarf has been popular in the store. Easy knitting with fun colours.
Zauberball Starke 6 is a heavier-weight version of Zauberball Crazy yarn, with long subtle color repeats. Each ply is dyed in a different color lending a soft marl effect to the yarn.
Zauberball Starke 6 is perfect for thicker socks, shawls, and winter accessories like mittens and gloves.

This amazing scarf is knit with 2 balls of Starke 6. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

The filling that was put in yesterday morning was temporary and I needed to have a proper filling done. I called my dentist yesterday afternoon and had two choices. Tomorrow (Wednesday) morning or February 28th. I took tomorrow morning. The office called me at noon that they could fit me in today at 3:30. Perfect for me so I had to leave the store early. All parcels were shipped but I didn’t have time to straighten. I’ll be there early tomorrow morning.

It looks like we could have bad weather on Friday. 👿. I’ll post more tomorrow about Friday when have better information. 🤞

Yarn Shopping

This afternoon I ordered new Opal sock yarn. The shelves are getting empty. This is the sock yarn that Jane always knits with when she makes socks for dad and Beth. Neither one of them looks after their socks. They go in the washer (with Tide) and in the dryer.

I also ordered new colours of Cascade Eco +

Eco+ is 100% Natural Peruvian Wool. Soft and wearable, this wool lends itself to either garments or felting. With amazing, big, generous skeins, it's perfect for all sorts of garments like cardigans, pullovers and blankets.

Sarah knit this sweater a few years ago. Meet Magnolia Chunky. Sarah used two skeins of Cascade Eco +
From Sarah
I wanted the bottom of the arm to look more puffed when it was hanging so I ended up using a regular 1x1 rib with 6mm needless and decreased an extra 2 stitches. This way the rib is more snug on my wrist which forces the fabric to hang.
Only a skein and a half. 8 mm needless. The medium size.
What a great looking sweater!
I was at the dentist before 8am and home before 10am. The root canal went as good as it could. I didn’t go into the store but will be there tomorrow morning packing orders.

Trinigan is Growing

Last night I said I was going to bed early. It ended up early this morning because the football game was good. The wrong team won but I did get lots of knitting done.

I made it to the split on Trinigan. When you reach 18” you divide the fronts and back. Andrea has you cast on stitches to create the armhole. The rows are definitely going faster now.

The stitches for the back and left front are on a spare circular needle with Cocoknits stitch stoppers. I love these stitch stoppers. They don’t come off your needle when you throw your knitting into a bag or basket.

There is a beautiful new shawl on Ravelry called Yvonne MT. I don’t have permission to show the pictures but here is the link to the pattern. One version of the shawl is knit in Le Petit Lambswool. Diana has been asking for a project - I think this could be her holiday knitting.

Today Beth made Reindeer Crack. We are going to package it in small bags for everyone in her office.
This is the obstacle course I had to get through this morning.

I forgot this picture. Last night dad helped me wind yarn before dinner. He used to do this when he was young with my Oma.

Melancholia

This is Melancholia by Zanete. I have been following test knitters on Instagram and couldn’t wait for the pattern to be released. I emailed Zanete this afternoon and asked permission to use her pictures. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

As knitting is a great way to sit still and connect with your inner self, it has always been my go-to when I need to process emotions. All, even the not-so-nice ones, are valid, and we need to experience them before moving on.

Melancholia sweater lets you create your own particular emotion sweater. It is a unique and beautiful knitting pattern you have never seen! If you’re looking for something special to knit this winter, look no further - the Melancholia Sweater Pattern is exactly what you need.

The asymmetric colourwork will add subtle sophistication to your wardrobe while allowing you to express your personality. No matter what colours you choose in this pattern, they will come together beautifully and make an eye-catching piece. Who knew truly unique designs could be so easy?

My username is zaneteknits and my website is zaneteknits.com

I have been knitting since I can remember. Firstly my dolls were covered in knitwear, then I started to make my own clothes around 12 years of age.

I’ve made so many sweaters and cardigans over the last 30 years but never thought to write down the patterns. Until very recently a knitting friend of mine convinced me to give this a go. So, I’ve only just begun my pattern publishing journey in June 2019 and I’m loving every minute of it.

I hope you enjoy making my designs as much as I like sharing them with you.

I’m going to be very happy to hear from you in my Ravelry group Designs by Zaneteknits.

The sweater is knit in Trine and Dream State. Above is Trine 76 with Melancholia. We don’t have the Trine that Zanete used but we will in the new year. Below is Trine 7 with Overshadow. I’m still thinking about the colours that I want to use for mine.

If you don’t want to use Trine for the main colour I would suggest Le Lambswool, Woolstok or Cascade 220.

Mr. UPS and Mr. FedEx dropped off a few boxes today - Rowan and Lykke. The box from Malabrigo was already unpacked (and the website was updated) before I took this picture.

Malabrigo Noventa. I took this picture quickly before I left. I will take a better one tomorrow. This does not do the colours justice. They are beautiful.
A brand new colour of Malabrigo Sock. Meet Ursula.
The Bear Paw Socks would look great in Ursula with Malabrigo Ultimate Sock in Natural.
Last night I pulled out my latest Nightshift to finish it. Yes, there are a lot of dog toys. Jackson and Boscoe love to empty the toy box looking for the perfect toy to play with.
The cast off is almost finished. I packed the shawl in my Maker’s Satchel to bring to work this morning but I forgot it.

I hope to finish it tonight.

Deep Winter Coat

Wool & Pine has a new pattern available for preorder on Ravelry.

Deep Winter Coat Pre-order includes: a special 15% discount applied at checkout, exclusive access to video tutorials and all the pattern info you need so you can acquire yarn & swatch for gauge before release day next week.

Preorders automatically receive the full pattern on release day, December 22

Introducing Deep Winter Coat, an easy to wear, classically stylish cabled cardigan with a rustic edge. Comfortable and cozy due to its wrap-around silhouette, a thick hand knit belt hugs your waist while the deep shawl collar wards off the winter chill. Decadently cozy in worsted weight yarn held double, Deep Winter’s soothing stockinette meets bountiful cables which will captivate your needles this season.

Deep Winter Coat is knit seamlessly from the top down in a relaxed style and a longer fit for a revived classic feel. Begin by casting on each back shoulder separately, then join shoulders along the back of the neckline, working flat to the armholes. The stitches for the front shoulders are then picked up along the back and worked flat. Once all three pieces (back, front left and front right) are worked to the armholes, they are joined into one piece and worked flat to the hem.

The set in sleeves are worked by picking up stitches around the sleeve holes, working short rows to create a smooth-fitting sleeve cap which is then joined in the round and knit to the hem.

The collar is picked up and worked in a 1x1 ribbing, with short rows used to create a wide, cozy collar around the neckline. Lastly an optional belt is worked in 1 x1 ribbing for a classic wrap-around style with rustic vibes.

For this pattern we used worsted weight yarn held double for the extra super squishy cozy factor! We have three yarn recommendations outlined below. All three yarns give a fantastic outcome and are able to meet the recommended gauge. You are welcome to use a yarn outside of these recommendations, for example, some knitters may choose to work with bulky or super bulky weight rather than worsted held double. However, keep in mind you need to achieve the correct gauge for your sweater to fit.

I looked up #deepwintercoat on Instagram and there are some beautiful coats being test knit.

I was up early this morning and the freezing rain had started.

I had hoped it would end early enough for me to get to the store to do some work. At 10:30 I laid down and didn’t get up until 2. I guess I needed sleep. The freezing rain was still coming down. It’s 2:30 and the temperature has risen a bit and now it’s just raining. I thought about going in for a few hours but I have paperwork I can do here so I’ll be there early in the morning to pack orders.

Beth worked from home today. The dogs had a lazy day too.
