Mozart Pullover

The Mozart Pullover is Caitlin Hunter’s latest design. What a gorgeous sweater. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

The Mozart pullover is knitted from the top down, starting at the back and worked to the base of the armholes. Then, the front shoulders are picked up and knitted separately, working from the top down to the edge of the front neck. After joining both front sections, the front is worked to the armhole. Then the front and back are joined and knitted in the round down to the hem. The sleeves are picked up and worked in the round. Finally, the collar stitches are picked up and worked outwards from the body in the round.

The sweater is knit in worsted weight yarn. Or you could take a dk weight yarn and hold it with a silk/mohair blend. Did I mention that the sweater is beautiful? What a great project for the new year.

I’m going to say goodnight. We had visitors and now Beth and I need to do some Christmas baking.

Key Sweater

This is the Key Sweater from PetiteKnit and you can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.
The Key Sweater is worked from the top down with raglan increases on the yoke. Short rows are worked after the neck rib edge to shape the neckline. The body and sleeves are worked in the round and finished with rib edges. The pattern is knitted with a two-colour stripe pattern.

The yarn thickness is Aran weight so you have options. You can knit the sweater in a yarn like Cascade 220 or Malabrigo Rios on its own. Or you can take a DK weight yarn like Rowan Felted Tweed and hold it with a mohair/silk.

I did quite a bit of website updating today. We received orders from Lantern Moon, Addi, Zauberball, Cascade, Clover, Knitters Pride and more. Tomorrow we should receive more Addi needles.

We received a happy email from Spincycle that new colours are on the way with the Plump I ordered yesterday.

Strawbaby Dream State

Something Wicked Dyed in the Wool.

Strawbaby Dyed in the Wool.

Then we received another happy email. Malabrigo is shipping my yarn tomorrow. The order includes the Mecha and Chunky. I’ll have lots of website updating to start on tonight.

Plump

I’ve been doing some Christmas shopping for the store. We have new colours of Spincycle Plump coming soon. My guess is we will see these at the beginning of January. This is Opia.
Good Omen - we had this in stock and it sold out.
Rusted Rainbow
Strawflower
Perfect Crime

I can’t decide if I want to knit the Plumped Up Harlow in the same colours as I knit my Plumped Up Cowl (Afternoon Delight and Echo Echo) or new colours. Now I’ll wait for the box to arrived to decide.

I showed my knitting yesterday. This morning I received an email asking what I was making. This is Flora Daze (pattern purchased on Ravelry) that I am knitting with a Smalliday Set from Emma’s.

This is the Flora Daze I knit with a 2023 Smalliday set. Last year I used the DK kit. This year I’m knitting with the fingering weight kit.

This came up in my featured photos today. Dad and his dogs at the cottage.
Baby Fred. Really baby Fred.
Here are our December hours for the rest of the month.

Now back to Flora Daze. I might need another mini wound tonight. Thankfully we have more apple pie for dad.

Starting colour 9

I knit while watching football yesterday and finished colour 7. I’m part way through colour 8 so colour 9 needs to be wound. I asked dad to help me but he isn’t agreeing. He doesn’t like the pink. I’m bribing him with a piece of apple pie and ice cream so he is reconsidering.

The tree is up. After taking this picture Beth and I started wrapping. We made a no gift pact at our house but that has gone out the window.
Dad and his boys.
Fred loves to come upstairs with me at night. While I’m brushing my teeth and getting ready for bed he gets into my spot. He won’t move. I have to push him out of the way and he isn’t happy about that.

Now to wind some yarn. Dad is trying to convince me that he needs pie first. I’m not falling for it.

Sophie Hood

The Sophie Hood is a new pattern from PetiteKnit. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

The Sophie Hood is worked in one piece from tip to tip. It is worked flat, back and forth, in garter stitch with built-in i-cord edges. The hood is shaped using increases and decreases, and it’s back is sewn together at the end, using mattress stitch along the back of the neck.

The Sophie Hood is knit with Aran weight yarn. I think Mode at Rowan Softest Alpaca would be a great yarn choice. You can also use Malabrigo Rios with a strand of lace weight mohair. Warm and soft.

I cast off the last stitch just before we closed for the day. Alex is coming in on Friday and I will nicely ask her to take it with her to block and sew in the ends. I love how the colours came out.

Beth is making dinner while I’m writing. After dinner I am going to work in my Advent shawl. It’s December 14th and I am about to start colour 6. That is being behind.

Coming Soon

I am enjoying knitting my Plumped Up Cowl but I understand that not everyone wants to knit with Spincycle. I ordered some Malabrigo yarns this morning that will work for the cowl and hat. My guess is that they won’t be here until the new year but surprises happen.

Mecha
A rare single-ply superwash yarn! Our superwash merino takes color in the most vivid, rich way, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the multi-layered hues of Mecha! Soft as always, Mecha has a slight thick-and-thin texture, a fantastic loft, and is the perfect size for quick but not-too-heavy projects.
I looked again at my purchase order and there are 2 more colours of Mecha coming that I missed.

Chunky
One of our classics! We took our Merino Worsted, fattened it up, and plied it to create this squishy treat of a yarn! Chunky’s nice smooth texture and semi-solid colors make it perfect for bulky cables and bold textures - or choose a variegated colorway and let the colors do the work!
You can mix the yarns - they are the same tension.

When we order from Malabrigo we select from their current stock. As more colours become available we will be adding.

We also topped up on Rios and Washted. It’s going to be a big shipment.

I thought I was being smart and put my cowl on a different mannequin just before coming home. I wasn’t paying attention and pulled my needle out of a 1/4 of the stitches. 🤬 Luckily I was able to get them all picked up properly. I wasn’t happy with myself.
I have 12 more rows to knit and then I’ll be casting off.
