Milton

Joji Locatelli has a new pattern called Milton. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

Inspired by an older design of mine, Elton, this cardigan takes the classic stripes, alternating solid and see-through fabric, but features a completely different construction and shape. 

Milton is a seamless cardigan designed with a subtle shawl collar. There are two narrow saddle shoulders that give shape to an elegant shoulder line and set-in sleeves. 
You can make Milton cardigan as long as you want. Since the fabric is featherweight and delicate, I made mine longer, allowing the fabric to dance with me as I move.

Joji had a lot of pictures on Ravelry so I added a lot here. I like how she photographed the cardigan over a white shirt and over a black shirt.

The pattern calls for a sport weight yarn and a mohair/silk blend. One of her test knitters used a DK weight yarn and her cardigan looks great.

We received a large Spincycle order this morning with two brand new colours of Dyed in the Wool.

These are not online yet. That will be tomorrow’s job. I’m starting to get a migraine (totally weather related) so I’m going to sign off and take one of my migraine pills. I’ll feel better within half an hour but I’ll be very spacey so not the best for writing or trying to do computer work.

Lynn and I will be in the store tomorrow. I’ve missed Lynn.

The main body of the vest is knit in a sportweight yarn. The flowers on the sample are a mohair/silk blend and you are holding two strands to get the correct thickness.

If you want the main yarn to change colours like the sample you can use Dyed in the Wool or Zauberball Starke 6. If you want a solid background then Rowan Felted Tweed would be a great choice.

Late in the afternoon Mr. UPS brought two huge boxes from Malabrigo. I unpacked them and quickly put together some more kits for the Traveler Shawl that are online.

I will get the yarn (Rios, Washted and Sock) online tomorrow.

Another Traveler Shawl is finished. The ends are sewn in and it is blocked. Project #3 for 2024.

There is another project blocking. I finished my Traveler Cowl this afternoon. 

Now it’s time to get back to projects in the house that need to be completed. That was the reason for my New Year’s Resolution. I’m going to work on my Tessellated Vest while watching Price is Right at Night. I’ll be calling dad just before 9 so we can do the showcase showdown together. My Opa loved the Price is Right and it has carried down to us.

Project #2

Tanis Lavallee has a new pattern. This is City Limits Light - purchased on Ravelry.

When I designed my original worsted weight City Limits sweater pattern I had no idea what a staple it would become in my pattern collection. It quickly became my go-to pattern for gift knits. It’s such a versatile shape and lends itself so well to any number of simple modifications (stripes anyone?) and I knew that I needed to add a fingering weight version to my collection. And here it is! The same classic silhouette and reversible detailing of the original knit at a finer gauge to make the most of your precious stash of sock weight yarn. In these pattern photos I am wearing mine stockinette side out while my daughter is wearing hers reverse stockinette side out. I love them both!

There are many sizes available.

My first Traveler Shawl was soaked this morning in Yuzu Soak and now it is wrapped in a Super Absorbent Towel from Cocoknits. Later this evening I will wrap it in a towel to get even more water out. I should be able to lay it out tomorrow evening.

I have 8 rows and then the cast off on my cowl. There wasn’t any knitting last night because I went to bed early. I hope to get a few more rows before bed tonight. 

Tomorrow we have a big shipment coming from Malabrigo. More colours of Washted are in the box.

We will also be receiving a restock of colours we are short on. Thank goodness Lynn is home. She was enjoying her retirement in Florida for a few weeks. Now that’s she is rested up she’s coming in on Friday to help me put yarn away.

Terrazzo Sweater

Last week I talked about the Terrazzo Sweater from PetiteKnit (pattern purchased on Ravelry). The yarn arrived this afternoon.

I haven’t knit a PetiteKnit pattern yet but many customers have. They rave about the patterns and the fit.

The Terrazzo Sweater is worked from the top down. First the yoke is worked flat (back and forth) on the circular needles, while the neckline is being shaped, then the work is joined to be knitted in the round. The yoke is constructed with shoulder increases on both right side and wrong side rows on the first section. On the next section, increases are worked on the sleeves only, and on the final section classic raglan increases are worked on both body and sleeves. The turtleneck consists of a ribbed collar worked at the end, from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the neck edge. It is worked in twisted rib. The sleeves are worked in the round either on double-pointed needles or on a long circular needle using the Magic Loop technique. Begin by working a swatch to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge.

This is Noro Silk Garden Sock Solo in colour S1 - the colour used on the pattern.

I put together a few combinations of the Noro and a mohair/silk blend.
