More New

Wild Mint has arrived. We have it in large bottles, travel bottles and minis.
Spicy geranium with a hint of mint and citrus smells like freedom from the day-to-day. Take a wash on the wild side with the bright, clean scent of Wild Mint.

Love Spell and Afternoon Delight.

New colours of Kureyon arrived today. I don’t think they will get on the website tonight. I’m going to change that to say that they won’t be online tonight. I have knitting to do.

I added more kits for Stephen West’s MKAL.

Dad was in charge of dinner last night. They had grilled cheese sandwiches. Since they were going for such a short time they didn’t want to take a lot of groceries.

Beth’s catch this morning. Apparently Beth caught a pike this morning but it swam into the grasses and broke the line.

Jackson and Lucy are free to roam. Beth can call Jackson and he runs back as fast as he can. Lucy doesn’t go anywhere fast. Boscoe is another story. He is fast and doesn’t always listen. If something catches his attention he is gone. They have a 60 foot rope and he is tied to a tree or to the dock.

Dad caught a pike this afternoon. All fish caught were released back into the water. They don’t want to eat the fish. They just want the fun of catching them.

Someone is filthy!!

Earth Stripe Wrap

Diana stopped by this afternoon to show me the Earth Stripe Wrap. She has about 20cm to go and then the tassels. I love how the colours are turning out. Kits are available online and in the store.

The wrap is knit with 10 colours of Kidsilk Haze holding 2 strands together.

Our ever-popular Kidsilk Haze combines the soft halo of super kid mohair with the vibrant shine of silk in one incredible yarn that is loved by knitters the world over. Kidsilk Haze can be used with a variety of needle sizes to create different effects and styles, and is a firm favourite with lace fans. Used alongside other yarns it takes on an almost magical quality, and is available in a kaleidoscopic array of stunning colours.

Dad and Beth were delayed going to the cottage because of work. They left this morning. It will only be a few nights but they’ll have fun.

I had pizza delivered because I didn’t feel like cooking. Now I can sit and knit. I can’t watch any of the new TV shows tonight - Beth and I will watch them on the weekend. It’s a Law & Order marathon for me.

Dustland

Stephen West has a new sock pattern.

I'm so excited to introduce you to my new sock pattern: the Dustland Socks! As the newest member of the Dustland family, these gorgeous socks are the perfect quick knit for a pre-MKAL project. Grab one color of fingering weight sock yarn and get ready to begin a texturally rich knit that never becomes boring. The combination of garter stitch, moss stitch, diagonal ribbing, and broken rib columns is so much fun to knit. Knit top-down these cosy socks are easily customizable to your preferred length and a garter stitch stitch heel flap hugs the heel. Fall in love with the Dustland Socks and then try some of my other Dustland patterns to complete the collection, like the Dustland Sweater or the Dustland Shawl!

Until the end of the day on Friday you can get 20% off ALL of my Dustland patterns! Enter the discount code “DUSTLAND20” when you checkout on my website or on Ravelry to get 20% off my Dustland patterns

This is our Dustland Shawl. We knit it with 3 skeins of Arranmore Light.

This top-down shawl features several easy knit purl textures for an entertaining and soothing project. Four skeins of DK weight wool like West Wool Tandem create this large cozy shawl. Garter stitch frames the wingspan edges and a crisp I-cord bind off finishes this top-down shawl for a crisp clean look.

Mr. Canada Post brought our next ship of National Parks Collection Socks. If you placed an order your yarn has been shipped or you have received an email that your yarn is ready for pick up.

Now I HAVE to knit. Elah doesn’t want to finish itself and I need time to block it.

Bookish Cardi

It’s getting late. I was working on two different newsletters and lost track of time.
Mr. UPS brought the four new colours of Arranmore Light this morning. The website has been updated. Copper Coast is my favourite. The picture doesn’t do the colour justice.
We used Arranmore Light to knit the Bookish Cardi (pattern purchased on Ravelry).

Bookish is coming to Camp and I made up kits today. Here is the chart that I made to show how many skeins you need for each size. What does 2” longer mean? My sample is 2” longer than the pattern length.

New colours of Dream State are coming at the end of the week. Love Spell is above and Ranunculus is below.
I can’t wait for Ranunculus. I see another Pressed Flowers in my future.

We didn’t know that there was a new season of The Voice starting tonight. Beth has it on and it’s time to knit.

Happy Sunday

This is Sally Melville’s Poncho Grande. Ponchos are big again. They are easy to wear. If your tension is off a bit the world won’t end. When you knit a sweater you want/need it to be a certain size. No one will know if your poncho is a bit bigger or smaller than it was supposed to be.

This isn’t a new pattern but Sally reknit it using 2 strands of Cascade 220. You can use any worsted weight yarn including Tosh Vintage and Malabrigo Rios.

This is an easy piece to slip on and wear over anything, perfect for those in-between seasons (at least in my climate) when a parka is too heavy but an extra layer is required. It’s a quick knit that is stylish and never fails to garner compliments.

You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

Tonight’s post is short because I want to get back to my sleeve. The second sleeve has been picked up and I’m knitting away. The first sleeve isn’t finished because I don’t have the correct needle at home for the ribbing. It’s hard to believe but I couldn’t find it. I think it’s in another project. That is easy to believe.

Lucky Striped

Kit from Churchmouse Yarns has been busy.

The Lucky Striped Poncho is a fun riff on one of our favorite Classics. Inspired by the Easy Folded Poncho, designer Kit took a playful approach to a six-stripe sequence—she let a roll of the dice choose how it would come out!

As she knit the Lucky Striped Ponchos, Kit would toss one die to determine what color she'd use next, and a second to decide how wide to make the stripe. Using this method on your own poncho allows for wonderful randomness—and ensures it'll be one of a kind. Now, it's your turn to roll!

You can purchase the pattern on the Churchmouse website.

There are endless combinations available. We currently have 59 colours of Felted Tweed in stock.
Here are some suggestions from Churchmouse.

If you don’t feel like striping, you can use Felted Tweed Colour. The yarn will do the work for you.

This is the Easy Fold Poncho (pattern purchased on the Churchmouse website).

Another yarn suggest for the two poncho patterns is Arranmore Light from The Fibre Co. We have 4 brand new colours (along with a restock of existing colours) coming next week.

I have a few rows in me and then bed. Tonight I’m working on my Nightshift. This is mindless knitting. Tomorrow I am going to finish my sleeves on Elah. The first sleeve is at the ribbing. I think. I need to try it on and make sure.
