Swimming

Jackson went swimming yesterday. He is getting ready for the cottage - we are going up north in September. The cottage is booked for a week - I’m going for a few days.

Jade is growing. I am almost finished the first ball of rust. I have decided that I am not going to try and line up the colours. My ball is going to end with rust so if I want to keep the colour sequence I need to start the next ball with the dark wine/purple. That means winding off parts of balls and I don’t want to waste yarn. I will try and find a ball that will roughly continue the sequence but that’s as far as I’m willing to go.
Here are the 8 colours of Felted Tweed Colour. Lynda and Diana are going to be knitting projects in it so we will have more store samples later this fall.

The Blue Earth Cowl from Blue Sky Fibers is knit with 4 skeins of American Scenic. We found this yarn when we were cleaning and it is beautiful. You can download the pattern for free on Ravelry.

The Long Island Cowl is knit with 2 skeins. The pattern is free on Ravelry.

A wonderful blend of alpaca, merino and silk, this limited edition Made in the U.S.A. yarn is a delight to knit. Offered in four heathered color options, this cowl is comfy and soft.
The yarn has been added to our Clearance section.

A few more rows then bed. Who am I kidding? A few rows means an hour.

Deals

Lynn and I spent the day moving things around in the store. We are trying to get everything ready to open and we would like to clear out some of our sale yarns.

On the clearance page for kits we have The Hug Shot. This kit is two skeins of Dream in Color Smooshy Cashmere. Here are some shawls that Joji has designed using one skein of fingering weight. A Hug Shot kit will make two shawls.

Positive Vibes (pattern purchased on Ravelry) is another great option for the Hug Shot kit.

Another option is Ambah’s Delphinia shawl (pattern purchased on Etsy)

If you are a sock knitter we have marked down some colours of Opal - they are marked with Sale.

I found three kits for Spincycle’s Cara Cowl. The kit is one skein of Melancholia (the teal) with one skein of Tell-Tale Heart (the earth tones). The cowl is so warm and it is easy to knit.
Here is a link to all the kits that are on sale.

We are waiting for dad and Beth to come and put some grid up for us. Then we will be able to hang kits and skeins. This idea hit me this afternoon. I think/hope it will look good when we are finished.

Beth and I are picking up Jackson on Friday morning. I have a feeling that Beth won’t sleep on Thursday night and is going to have me up very early.

Jackson is learning lots like picking up the mail. Linda takes him out every day.

He’s meeting lots of people as well. Linda says that everyone loves him.

Jade is growing

I love fair isle knitting and this scarf is not disappointing me. It is knit in the round so all your floats (and ends) will be on the inside of the scarf. The scarf is addictive because you want to see how the next colour is going to look. Felted Tweed is a beautiful yarn to knit with.
We had a good time at our outdoor sale yesterday. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. All was good but it was really hot. I came home and napped. The rest of the afternoon and evening was resting and knitting.
The funniest part of the day is the men who pull into the parking lot beside the store thinking that we are having a garage sale. They drive slowly and you can see them straining to see what is going on. Then you can see the disappointment as they drive away.

The Great British Baking Show was taped earlier and Beth is watching it. I’m going to sign off and move in front of the TV with my knitting.

Brioche

This is just a sample of the sock yarn that will be on sale tomorrow. $20 a skein. Or buy 5 skeins and get the 6th free. These are all hand dyed and great quality. Perfect for socks, shawls or sweaters.

Our Botanic kits are waiting to move outside tomorrow morning.

Stephen West released two patterns today. Both feature Brioche and garter stitch.

I would love to write more but it’s almost time for bed. A few rows on Jade first. I will have Jade with me tomorrow so that you can see how beautiful it looks.

We’ll see you at 9am.

Jackson says HI

Stephen West has been promoting his Botanic Shawl on Instagram so I pulled out our store sample and made kits. We will have these outside on Saturday.

This sample is knit with Le Petit Lambswool and Zauberball Crazy.
You can find the kits here.

I think that these kits will work for at least one of the shawls that Stephen is releasing tomorrow. Maybe both.

This is the Botanic that I knit. I thoroughly enjoyed making it. The yarn is Le Petit Lambswool and Dyed in the Wool. More kits were added to the website.

I think that Stephen will release his new patterns tomorrow morning. You‘ll be able to find his patterns here.

Tonight was the first night cooking on the new barbecue. We went simple with hamburgers. They were great. The knobs light up when the barbecue is on. We really like that - it makes it easier to see that it’s turned off.

The ceiling fan is up and working too. It’s amazing how much cooler it makes the back porch.
Jackson is doing really good at training. Linda loves him - I hope we get him back. They go out to the pet store and the park daily so that he is socialized. He’s learning his name, come and not to chew. All the important things.
