Denim

These great designs are knit in Rowan Denim Revive. You can purchase the book on our website.

There is something so special about denim yarn, and Denim Revive has an added dimension, thanks to its sustainable credentials. Made from recycled cotton fibres that give Denim Revive an almost tweedy effect, the capsule colour palette of muted shades contains the classic denim shades but goes beyond the blues to include chalky white, soft red, and midnight black. A perfect choice for lace, cables, or even a traditional gansey.

Kathy sent a picture of a baby blanket she just finished. What a beautiful baby gift. The pattern is the Leafy Baby Blanket and Kathy used Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton.

I put together some interesting colour combinations for customers today.
This is for Orianna from Ambah O'Brien.

These are for Andrea Mowry's Shifty. The main colour is the three skeins to the left. The other colours are the contrast.

This is a combination I put together for a customer's Throwback. Maybe this should be mine as well! The main colour is Blackberry Highland. The contrasts are Robin's Egg, Shades of Earth and Melancholia.

Keep the pictures coming

Jan sent an email last night.
This is my Slow Curves, made in Primrose Yarn, colours (I’m not sure which is which Salem, Balty, Primrose, Wonders). Thank you for the great colour selection! It is a massive shawl and I love it. I have enough yarn left over to make some or Mairlynd’s Rainy Day hat and fingerless gloves.
You can purchase the pattern for Slow Curves on Ravelry.

I had a bit of time to play in the store today and put together some combinations for Slow Curves. These are all Hedgehog Sock. You can also use Skinny Singles but the yardage on Singles is less than Sock. You will need an extra skein of colour #3 if you choose Singles.

I used two colours of Pucker for this collection. They are different and would work well in a fade.
Now that I'm looking at this picture, I might flip the two colours on the right.
This is my Slow Curves. Joji writes a great pattern.
Slow Curves is a crescent shawl design that alternates wedges of solid colors with wedges of ‘faded’ or mixed yarns. With the use of short rows, these sections create curves that move like a pendulum. On one side of the shawl you will see 4 definite solid sections and on the other side you will see them all blended together.
The result is this beautiful, big, optically intriguing shawl.
This shawl is worked from the centre top down. Stitches are increased at each side on every row to give it its characteristic crescent shape. The colors fade into the next one as you work short row wedges.
Here are a few more of the brand new colours.
I have my MacBook and my iPad with me in the store. I'm working on my laptop and watching TV on my iPad. This is a screen shot from my iPad.
It made me a bit sad to see the reminder that my flight home from Myrtle Beach is at 3pm.
ETA: I didn't go to Myrtle Beach. I was supposed to go on Saturday and come home today. The trip was cancelled weeks ago. The reminder made me sad because I didn't get to spend some time in the sun and on the golf course.

It's a big TV night and I hope to get some knitting done. I need to do 2-3" of ribbing on my Throwback and then it will be time to cut. Yup. Cutting my knitting. I've done it before so I'm not worried. Beth and I will take lots of pictures as I do it.

Great News

We woke up this morning to find out that we are allowed to continue selling online. Our physical store will be closed until we are allowed to open but we can ship yarn. Please visit our website to place your order. We will continue shipping every day.

If you need to speak to us, please send an email. There won’t be set hours to reach us by phone.

Thank you for your continued support.

I was asked about Curbside pickup. For now we are not offering this. However, if there is an emergency and you need yarn or needles, please send us an email. I will try to arrange a time for pick up.

Tara shared a picture today of a beautiful cardigan she knit with Arranmore Light. The pattern is called Mariechen and you can purchase it on Ravelry.
Love the feel of this yarn. It’s very soft, with no bristles or prickles for being 80% wool (+ 10% cashmere and 10% silk). It almost feels more like soft cotton with tweedy bits.
This is being knit for a sister that would prefer things to not be overly warm or heavy. This yarn should suit well. The airiness of this yarn makes it easy to hold the whole project (knit from the neck down usually means a lot of weight to hold on to) without straining the wrists.
The pattern is very straight forward so far (I’m past any tricky parts) and well explained.

Ms. Canada Post picked up a lot of boxes this afternoon. There are still more that I didn't get finished until after she was here. There are going to be a lot of happy knitters in the next few days.

I didn't even think to take any yarn pictures before leaving today. All I could think about was getting home and taking my shoes off. I walked 4km in the store today.

Here are some new colours of Harrisville Highland that arrived late yesterday afternoon.
Lilac
Mustard
Hemlock
Walnut

We're going to watch Spring Baking from last night and then it's bed time. And I'm going to sleep in tomorrow - maybe until 8am.

New Colours

Before I left the store I snapped a few more pictures of the new colours.
There is going to be a new project very soon. I can feel it.

I received some great pictures this afternoon.
These came from Cathy. The top is Fading Point knit with tosh merino light. I love these colours. Below is Lemongrass knit with Cascade Eco +.

Claire sent two projects as well.
2½ mm & 3.0 mm  Lang Yarns Jawoll Color Superwash

Pattern Raituli.  CO 132 with 3mm. Used 3mm for the whole hat. Top made by knit 10 & knit 2 together, etc. Certainly not warm enough for -23 weather. She quickly traded for a warmer hat after the photo. Will be lovely when it warms up.

Thank you team for helping chose yarn.
Claire double stranded sock yarn for the dog coat. How cute!

Pattern is Dog Sweater for Small dog by Brian Herzog
I rushed earlier today to finish my post. I wanted everyone to see our announcement as early as possible. Then I realized that you didn't see all the new colours from Hedgehog. Maybe there is something that you need. All the new colours should be on the website.

There won't be any knitting tonight. It's bed time. I want to get to work early - there are boxes to be packed.
