Day Two of Shopping

I am so excited about Mode at Rowan. Beautiful colours. Wearable garments. Fabulous fibres.

Do you needle felt or have you thought about starting? We have lots of fleece (lots) in solid colours coming in a few weeks.

It's late and I'm ready for bed. I wasn't feeling well last night and didn't get a lot of sleep. Top that off with a busy day of buying yarn. Then I had dinner with a great group of people. Fabulous yarn shop owners (Marilyn and Jonathon from Romni Wools, Gisele from Wool 'n Things, Jolyn and Kerri from Little Red Mitten, Barb and Cindy from River City Yarns), designer Sarah Hatton along with my sales rep Kathryn and the lovely ladies who work in the Sirdar office.

I have two booths to visit in the morning and then I'll be on my way home.

Yarn Shopping Day 1

I had a great day playing with yarn.

New from Blue Sky Fibers - Printed Organic Cotton.

New mini skein kits of Woolstok. There are 21 skeins in a kit and they come in three different colourways.

To go with your 21 Color hat and mitts.

Gleeners are on the way.

New from Knitter's Pride for fall.

Cocoknits should be coming later this summer.

Lots of colour in the Urth Yarns booth.

Rowan's booth was beautiful as always.

I have lots more pictures but I'm going to save some for tomorrow.

There was a lot of walking today so I had a treat for dinner.

Now it's bed time. I need to do some orders in the morning before the show.

Lynn has been busy

She's knitting Ranunculus (pattern purchased on Ravelry) in Noro Kumo. The body is almost finished and she just started the second skein.

The pullover is worked seamlessly from the top down. 

It is a surprisingly quick project at a very loose gauge with big size needles. The combination of thin yarn and big needle gives light, transparent and airy texture to this pullover.

It looks awesome and fits her perfectly. The pattern asks for a different yarn but Lynn did some swatching and looked at projects on Ravelry to determine the needle size and which size to make. When she is finished I will post her notes.

You can knit long or short sleeves. Lynn is still debating.

I made it safely to Cleveland but it was a long day. A short wait at the border, rain all the way, dense fog for 40 miles and lots of trucks. I made it in time to change and then head to my Rowan meeting. I'm back in the room for a few minutes and then heading to Sample It. Suppliers set up tables showcasing a new product for fall. We can purchase a kit and then have a sample finished for fall. Then it's time for dinner and bed. I might do something that I very rarely do - order room service.

I knit throughout the meeting this afternoon. I'm using Rowan Big Wool, double stranded. Yup, 4 balls almost finished in 4 hours.

Tweed Sock

This is Andrea Mowry's fun new cowl. Meet the Montana Mountain Cowl (pattern purchased on Ravelry).

If I were to pick my favorite cowl style, it is definitely the Moebius cowl. It is perfect for colorwork projects because the floats are hidden inside, and it is so easy to style. Just pop it on to finish any outfit! The Montana Mountain Cowl uses the Mosaic method to add color and texture to this engaging knit!

Andrea mixes a fingering weight with Dyed in the Wool. Perfect timing. We have lots of stock. The Dyed in the Wool that Andrea used is a custom colour that we can not get at this time. (Since starting my post I found out that we will be able to get this colour but not until October)

Ms. UPS could barely carry our box of Donegal Cottage Tweed Sock. Oh my. The colours are gorgeous.

My hosta is starting to flower. I can't wait to see what they look like when I get home.

I am writing quickly and then I need to do a few orders and finish packing. I'll talk to you from Cleveland.

Surprise

Mr. Canada Post walked in this morning with two huge boxes from Hedgehog Fibres. Surprise.

We have new Potlucks. Sock.

Merino DK

Two in Singles.

We added new colours in Kidsilk Lace as well.

Doreen came in wearing her new Imagine When. It is fantastic. She used Hedgehog Skinny Singles in the colour Dune. I don't think she could have picked a better colour. I am infatuated with it. It came in DK today and I might need a Hipster in it.

Imagine the softest, most luxurious yarn, in your favorite color, creating a beautifully draped piece of fabric there to wrap your shoulders on a chilly day.  

Imagine a series of triangles shaping up in a fun exciting way, but still making your knitting easy enough to relax…

Mr. UPS brought in a big box of Dyed in the Wool from Spincycle. There are a few colours that we haven't had in quite some time.

I laid the new squares on top of my finished afghan. The new squares in Ito are definitely wider but not much taller than the Kureyon squares. My afghan is going to be 20 squares.

Now to start packing because I need to be in bed early tomorrow night. I'm leaving early Thursday morning to be in Cleveland by 1pm for a meeting with Rowan and the Rowan Flagship stores.
