Frilly

I'm in the middle of unpacking two boxes of new scarf yarn.

Frilly from SMC.
A combination of lurex and a cunning mesh construction enables you to create a high fashion ruffled scarf with a clever knitted technique. Just like magic, a beautifully shaded and frou frou scarf will appear before your eyes!

The yarn might look familiar-it is very similar to one that was very popular at Christmas.

Colour 93

The rest of the colours.

One ball will make a scarf.

I am not sure if we will be able to reorder this yarn - it could be a one time deal. The price is great so don't miss out. $5.99 a ball.

The Countdown is On

Just a few more sleeps until we head to Columbus. It seemed like it was a long way off but it's almost here. Breezy isn't going to make it. Not unless Bev knits while I'm driving. The To-Do list that has to be done in two days is very long. I better check to see if anything needs to go to the dry cleaners.

I knew there was a new bag coming from Namaste. I have been keeping the secret for the past few weeks. Last night I found some pictures on line so I guess it isn't a secret anymore.
These are the only two I could find but I do have information on the bag
The all-new Harlow bag is vintage inspired, constructed of luscious vegan material and offers ultra organization and serious style. Features include micro suede recycled lining, loads of exterior compartments & pockets (2 drink compartments, 2 flap top pockets, 1 fiber-friendly pocket, 1 zipper pocket), strap buddy for shoulder strap placement, and dual detachable handles for added versatility. Interior has a zippered top and features 2 open top pockets, 1 zipper pocket and plenty of space for activities! Available August 2012!

COLORS:
Caribbean Blue, Eggplant, Espresso, Pumpkin Spice.

MATERIALS:
Exterior: PVC-free, vegan faux leather.

SIZE:
L: 14" at bottom, 16" at top
W: 6" at bottom, 3" at top
H: 13"
Handle length for small handle: 9 inches from top of the bag to the top of the handle.
Handle length for long strap: 27 inches in smallest position, 49 inches in longest position.
I believe this will be available some time in August. More pictures coming soon!!

Emails are coming in hourly from companies telling us about things (yarns, books, accessories, needles) that will be debuting at TNNA. Surprise-Rowan has a new yarn. Kauni has a new colour. Knitter's Pride has new needles.

I was ready to hit Publish when I found one more picture. Choosing the colour is going to be tough.

Sitting, waiting and knitting

Today's post could be really long and ramble a lot. I'm spending the day at my parent's new house (been here since 8) to meet the Bell people, the insurance man, the Geek Squad to hang the TV over the fireplace and then Cogeco. The time frame is 8am - 5pm for my visitors. There is no furniture in the house yet. I brought a counter stool from home. I have a work station set up at the kitchen counter with DVDs (Criminal Minds and Two and a Half Men) to watch and my knitting. No internet so my computer is a glorified TV for the day.
I brought a tea with me and there is water in the fridge. Hopefully Beth will bring me something later. :)
No internet means that I am writing with a program that I don't usually use. I'm not sure how it is going to look when posted-sorry if it looks messy.
I have my knitting with me. The front bands are done and it's time to pick up for the neckband. I didn't realize it was so long.
IMG 4376
I'm glad I redid the front bands but it really put me behind.
IMG 4378
I'm picking up around the neck and my needle is too short. This is going to be an interesting morning.
It's after 11 and the Bell guy just showed up. Apparently the phone line is now fibre - not the old way we are used to. It's going to take him a few hours to get everything done. Not the most friendly guy. Also trying very hard to sell me on Bell Internet and TV. I wonder if he works on commission?? I hope the rest of them that come today are nicer.
The clock says noon and I just finished getting my stitches picked up. 438. I had to count them three times to make sure I was correct. Very lucky for me, this number is perfect for 2x2 ribbing. Now the fun begins. Fingers crossed I do the row correctly. I don't want to have to start again.
Beth came at 12:30 and I left for a bit. Got some lunch and went to the grocery store to start filling the pantry. The parents need everything. Sugar. Salt and Pepper. Flour. Windex. Dish Soap....
I got back here around 2 and the Bell guy was just finishing. It's 3 and dad just got here. He was picking up Beth and they were heading to Pier 1 to pick up the loft furniture. Still no word from the Geek Squad or Cogeco. I have the DVD player on again and my knitting is out.

This is the mirror that is going to hang going up the stairs.

The comfy couch in the loft.
The first row of ribbing is done and it worked! I started with 2 purls and ended with 2 purls. Now my fingers better get moving!
It's 7:30 and we just got home. The TV is installed and looks great. I forgot to get a picture from the main floor but here is the view when you sit in the loft.
IMG 4387
Beth has the TV taping and I'm going to continue knitting. Don't know how much I'm going to get done. It was a long day of doing not much. That is more tiring than working.

Liberty Wool

Happy Fathers Day! This afternoon we are going to a family barbecue.

The wedding last night was great. There was a lot of laughs. For some reason we were put in the back corner by the bar. This seems to happen a lot to Beth and I. :)

Unfortunately I hit a snag in my knitting. The body is done and cast off. That is good. Then I picked up for the first front band. I am knitting on 4mm needles and when I picked up the stitches the pick up row and first row were extremely loose. It didn't look good. I had 5 rows done and pulled it out. I am repicking up on 3mm needles. Then I will switch to 4mm when I start the ribbing. I'm hoping to get both front bands done tonight while watching the golf.

Two new colours of Liberty Wool from Classic Elite arrived on Friday afternoon. As you know I love Liberty Wool. It is soft and great to knit
Liberty Wool is a super-soft, washable wool available in solid and printed colors. This yarn's balanced twist will make all stitch combinations pop.
With all the great qualities of wool and the ease of machine washability, Liberty Wool knits at a gauge that suits many designs and is ideal for children's pieces as well as those for adults.
There are two new patterns as well-these are free when you buy the Liberty Wool to knit them.

 Cumberland Blues

A cardigan with wide garter stitch hem (knit sideways) and front bands, worked in pieces from the bottom up. Set-in, bracelet length sleeves are attached seamlessly from the top down with short row sleeve caps.
The colour is 7871 Bronze Sky

 Sugar Magnolia

A simple pullover with a neck slit and garter stitch panels on the front, back and cuffs. Sugar Magnolia is knit flat in pieces from the bottom up with traditional set-in sleeves.
The colour is 7870 Rosy Autumn

Sewing Project

Beth and I have been throwing around ideas for our sun room in Myrtle Beach. We agreed to keep this to ourselves for now. Once you tell my dad about a possible job he wants it done right away. This isn't a bad thing but they just moved into their new house so we didn't want our parents thinking about this right now.

We have this great room with not very nice furniture. Okay, the furniture is fine but not for this room. It is going to move upstairs to the deck.

We haven't seen anything we like and then I saw something on Pinterest this week. I showed Beth and she liked the idea too.

I'm not sure about the table but love the bench seats. Lots of pillows and we will have a comfortable room to read a book or have an afternoon nap.

Then I remembered the pattern that Sarah brought me for pillows from Amy Butler.

And I have some Amy Butler fabric to try out a pillow.

Once we get back from TNNA I am going to sit down and sew again. My sewing machine is dusty and probably doesn't remember how it supposed to work because I haven't touched it in so long.

Sequins

Lois asked about the dogs. They are Golden Retrievers but right now Roko does look like a Lab. Roko is feeling much better. They are playing together again which makes Melo very happy. Their playing looks like fighting and you would swear they were going to hurt each other but there is never blood and only occasionally a cry.

We have a very busy weekend. Tonight is dinner with our friend Lynda and her daughter Jessie. Jessie's birthday was in May and tonight is her birthday dinner. Tomorrow is a family wedding. My dad's cousin's son is getting married. That is confusing. :) Jane will be in the store. Then on Sunday we are going to a Fathers Day barbecue. There will be close to 50 people. Beth and I are in charge of desert. We have a bit of work to do. I also have my knitting to get going on .

Mr. Canpar, Nick, brought in two huge boxes yesterday afternoon.

Frill Seeker Sequins.

One ball will make a scarf. I have started one and will show pictures when I get a bit further.

I suggest you roll the ball on a paper towel tube before you start. Taking a few minutes to do this before you start will make knitting the scarf much more enjoyable.
There are holes along one edge of the yarn which makes it easy to knit.
The pattern is on the label. 9 stitches on 5mm needles. I might suggest going as small as 4mm-the smaller the needle the easier it is to get into the holes of the yarn.

See all the colours...

We also received new colours of Frill Seeker Precious Metal. Colours 916-920

The dogs woke me at 7 this morning so I had lots of time to write before heading to the store. Beth had to run to the bank and brought me home breakfast from Tim's before she took the dogs to the parents house. This afternoon the appliances are coming so Beth is going to be there to meet the truck. My dad has a carpenter waiting to install the microwave (over the stove), dishwasher, fridge with water and ice, stove, washer and dryer. We don't let my dad do things like that. He can do it but if it doesn't go right bad things can happen. I should be saving this story for Fathers Day but I'm going to share now. When we were kids a water pump broke in the house. My dad started working on it and couldn't figure out what was wrong. What to do? Take out a sledge hammer and smash it to bits. You might think I'm making this up but it is true!! The plumber asked us to never let my dad touch anything again. That was close to 40 years ago and it is still a family joke.

I Like Presents!!

Cathy is home from England and brought me a present. I emailed my friends at Rowan and asked if Sarah and Cathy could come for a visit. Kate was away but arranged with David to take them through and show them everything. They got to see the new garments for fall-I'm very jealous. I don't get to see them until next week. They saw all the new yarns and got to meet everyone who works at Rowan. They were very impressed by the operation.

They each received a goodie bag and David sent one with Cathy for me. I will be able to show you in a week or so when Rowan debuts fall 2012.

I was ready to laugh at Roko last night but he looks cute. Like a puppy

The saddest part is his tail. It was nice and fluffy.

I'm not sure he is happy right now to have no hair. He played with his Frisbee but didn't want to play with Melo.

Melo was trimmed-his hair isn't nearly as thick and doesn't mat like Roko's does so he didn't need to be shaved.

The painting has started at my parents. The great room and the master bedroom have the first coats. We did a good job picking colours.

The main colour is grey and it goes really well with the hardwood.

Mr. Canada Post came in with a parcel from Tina at Freia Fibres. More yarn and patterns for the Sonoma Lace Scarf.

This weekend is the US Open Golf Championship. I came to work dressed like I'm heading to the course and golf is on the TV. I'm almost done the bottom ribbing on Breezy. The golf is a good excuse to sit and knit this afternoon.

Busy Knitters

Lynda and Wannietta have been busy. It's always a happy day when Mr. Canada Post brings in boxes from them.

Misty Scarf from Kidsilk Haze Stripe Collection

Design by Kaffe Fassett

2 colours of Rowan Kidsilk Haze Stripe-1 ball each

Jetty
A scoop neck sleeveless tunic with fold over ridged collar. A-line silhouette and shaping before armholes make for a flattering fit.

Classic Elite book 9168 Harbor

I know that the spelling is wrong but Classic Elite is an American company and I took it how they spelled it. It is the same with Color Affection. It is hard to write these words without the letter U. Do I spell it the British way or as the pattern is written??
Classic Elite Seedling Handpaint
Part of the Verde Collection of eco-friendly yarns, Seedling is a machine washable organic cotton in both solid and handpainted colors.Seedling's organic fiber is more robust and less stressed by chemicals than non-organic cotton, which increases its absorbency and color intensity.
The dogs went to their hair dresser today. Roko has really thick hair so Beth decided to have him shaved for the summer. I'm afraid that I will laugh when I see him tonight.

My Breezy Cardigan did not progress as planned last night. I'm hoping to get the bottom ribbing done this afternoon. That means putting the computer away and getting the needles clicking.

Kauni

Mr Canada Post brought in a big box of Kauni Effektgarn this morning. We are well stocked!! We don't have all the colours but pretty close.

The Cascade Vest knit in two colours of Kauni. We have this colour way hanging in the store. You knit two rows of one colour and then two rows of another colour. You keep repeating carrying the yarn not in use up the edge.

I have been putting together colour combinations this afternoon.

Kauni has extremely long colour segments. This works great for the striping on the vest or for doing fair isle.

We have two patterns from Ruth Sorenson. These are knit in the round and then cut to make a shawl. It sounds scary but it really isn't.

 The Summer Shawl
The Daisy Shawl

The Kauni website has free patterns to download...

Here is my Breezy Cardigan. I didn't get the bottom ribbing done last night. I mentioned to Beth that I thought I would get it done-I have 2 weeks. She looked at me and said try again. You have 10 days. On No!!

I'm going home and getting my fingers working.
