I forgot something

I finished my post and hit 'Publish' when I realized that I didn't tell you the yarn that I used for Shrug Bug. Does this count as a post?

Freedom Wool from Twilleys
Colour-Moorland
100% wool
50m on a 50 gram ball
2 balls were used

10mm circular needle for body
8mm double pointed needles for sleeves

There was enough yarn left that I could have added a few more rows to the body making it more like a cardigan or a few more rows to the sleeves.

Babies

Sarah and Cathy were having a mother-daughter day yesterday and stopped by the store to see me.  A friend of Sarah asked her to make a baby shrug for her daughter to wear at Christmas.  I took a look on Ravelry for baby shrugs and found Shrug Bug.  Extremely cute and I brought yarn home to make a few.

Customers like to see how a yarn knits up and I hate making swatches.  For some reason I don't mind knitting up a yarn if it is in a garment.

I was busy knitting last night while watching baseball.  I still need to sew in the ends and put on a big button. Knit from the top down on 10mm needles-it can't be any quicker.

The pattern is available for purchase on Ravelry.

The last line of the pattern says
Put on a super cute baby, with jeans and a long sleeve onesie to keep her warm!
If you have a last minute baby gift to make I highly recommend this.

We received a shipment of Clover accessories this week.  Clover has introduced new stitch markers that are a triangle shape.  I have used them for a few projects and love them.
These stitch markers have a unique triangle shape that sets the perfect eyelet for inserting the needle in the marker as you pass it from one needle to another.
There are three sizes available
XS for 2mm-3.5mm
S for 3.75mm-5mm
M for 5.5mm-6.5mm
L for 8mm-10mm needles

It is almost football time!!  Have a great afternoon.  I hope you are taking some time to knit.

Scarves are back!!

Thursday morning one of my sales reps was in showing me some new products.  She pulled out a scarf and I knew that I needed the yarn in the store.  She put in an emergency order and it should be here late Monday afternoon.

A few years ago we did a ruffled scarf in the store where you knit through the top loops of the yarn. We are doing that again with this yarn. 8 stitches on 8mm needles. Should be quick to knit-I will let you know because as soon as the yarn arrives I will be casting on.

One ball will make a scarf.

There are amazing colours

50-sea green and blue
47-turquoise
45-fuschia (have you noticed that there are different spellings on this.  I have also seen it spelled fuchsia).
44-fire red
 43-beige and brown
42-harvest

46-violet

I have also ordered solid cream and solid black along with a black/grey blend.

What colour do you think I will be using?

It's done

Okay, almost done.  I didn't think the scarf needed to be blocked until I looked at this picture and it definitely needs a bath in Soak. The fringe needs to be trimmed as well.

This afternoon was spent casting off 500 stitches.  I didn't read the pattern before starting (shocker) and had about 20 stitches cast off when I decided that I didn't like how it looked.  I was doing a regular cast off with one colour.  After reading the pattern that said to cast off in pattern (knit one, take the yarn to the front, slip one, take the yarn to the back) I took out what I had done and started again.  All was going well until I knit two stitches in a row which threw off the pattern.  More ripping out.  At 6pm I finally had all stitches cast off and looking good.

I used Mini Mochi from Crystal Palace.  The yarn is self striping which makes the scarf look like it was woven on a loom.

I started going back through older posts to see if there was something that I should have talked about but didn't.  Guess what-I forgot to tell you about the four new colours of Mini Mochi that are in the store.

300 Jessica's Crayon Box
303 Spice Market
304 Bodega Bay (the colour of my scarf)
305 Caramel Latte

There was something else I forgot to talk about.  A new yarn from Noro arrived this week-Kogarashi.
51% silk
39% wool

This fabulous cabled hooded coat is the cover garment of Jenny Watson's new book Noro Style.

Another great pattern from the magazine knit in Kogarashi.

All colours are in the store.  I was a very good person and did not take any home.  I really wanted to and it could/will happen but not quite yet.  This makes me feel like there is a bit of willpower in my body.  :)

Surprises from addi

I have been promising finished pictures of my linen stitch scarf for a week now.  It still isn't done.  I am in a minor knitting funk which I hope I am out of.  I worked most of today on the scarf and have about four rows to go.

Survivor last night was awesome. Marty thinks he is so smart.  How much longer before they vote him out?  Why are people so confident on this show? And then there was Hell's Kitchen.  People still can't make scallops and risotto.  Come on.  Shouldn't you know how to make these before you go on the show?

Today's boxes included a shipment from Skacel with new products from addi.

Swing Crochet Hooks
If you enjoy crochet, this is your lucky day! skacel and addi are extremely proud to announce their newest line of crochet hooks, the addi Swing. Developed with comfort in mind, the handle is constructed of two plastics: one colorful and soft, and the other, white and firm. The two balance each other perfectly for just the right amount of flexibility. The handle warms quickly to the temperature of your skin and is precisely contoured to rest comfortably in your hand, thus eliminating pressure points. In fact, the Swing hook feels so good, those who don’t crochet, will want to learn. To top it off (literally), is the classic addi Turbo hook that slides easily in and out of stitches. All the hooks are color coded by size, and the metric size is boldly printed on the handle. No “readers” needed for this one!
I can already hear the phone ringing-a call from my mom telling me that she wants every size available.

The other product was very unexpected.
The addi Bamboo Click system provides 8 different sizes of addi Bamboo tips (3.5mm, 3.75mm, 4.0mm, 4.5mm, 5.0mm, 5.5mm, 6.0mm, and 8.0mm), three different lengths of our new, extremely pliable blue cord (24”, 32” and 40”), and one connector piece which helps to either store stitches or combine your cords. TheClick tips require no tools to change; simply insert the cord deep into the tip, twist and release. The tips will remain secure until you change them, thanks to the Click’s revolutionary locking mechanism!
I am on my way home to drop off my computer and then onto the nail salon.  Nothing makes me feel better than pretty nails.

Glued to the TV

I am surrounded by yarn and kit bags right now.  Woodstock is just over a week away and I am starting to panic.  Kits need to be made and yarn needs to be priced.

A large shipment just arrived from Tanis Fiber Arts. In the box were
-Fiddlehead Mitten kits
-Four colours of Mulberry Silk lace weight
-Eleven colours of sock yarn
-Superwash Merino Roving
-Tussah Silk Roving

My Linen Stitch Scarf is almost done (I think I have been saying that for the past week).  I couldn't get much done last night because I was glued to the TV watching CNN and the rescue of the miners in Chile.  Thank goodness there was a box of kleenex beside my table.  What an amazing scene!  When I woke up this morning the TV went on again to see the progress.

I have started making up some kits for one of the new Churchmouse Baby patterns. This is the Baby Blossom Sweater. There are two sizes available 6-12 months (two balls) and 12-18 months (three balls).

What a great quick to knit baby gift.

Blossom from Trendsetter has arrived in
Blush

Lilac

Ice

More pictures from Camp

Here are a few more pictures from our Camp Fashion Show.
I am trying to make up for the fact that there wasn't a post on Monday by giving you many posts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Pictures from Camp

John was our official photographer at Camp and he brought me a DVD with pictures from the Fashion Show.  The models were moving through the room quickly because it was so hot.  This made it hard for John to get pictures as they were going by him.  Next year I will ask the models to stop in front of him for a minute to make John's life easier.

Short day on the course

Beth and I set out to the golf course yesterday morning and it started to pour. When we got to Dundas it slowed down so we started our round.  It would rain and stop continually through nine holes.  Just after we teed off on ten the siren went-there was lightening in the area.  We had to go into the clubhouse (luckily it wasn't far) and then after thirty minutes they said we could go out again.  We got a few more holes in and then it started to pour again so we decided to end our day.  The trees looked amazing!!

I was chilled to the bone from being wet and went to bed when I got home. After a small nap we had Swiss Chalet-very close to a turkey dinner. Unfortunately I didn't get any knitting done because I was wrapped up in blankets.

I'm not knitting you socks

Beth wonders why I won't knit her socks. The dogs (especially Melo) love to carry around socks. Melo doesn't chew on them, just likes them in his mouth. Somehow they always end up outside in the yard. It used to bother me but they aren't my socks so now I just overlook them.

They were very happy with Beth because she bought them marrow bones at the grocery store.

While standing on the deck last night I was admiring the forest behind our house. The leaves changing colour are so beautiful.  I grabbed my phone and took some pictures.

My day today is watching football and knitting.  It is time to finish my scarf and get onto another project!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  I hope you are enjoying turkey with your family.

Finished Projects

It is amazing that my life comes to screaming to halt when my email doesn't work!!  I grew up without email.  I should be able to handle it!!

Yesterday afternoon I knit up this quick scarf.

4 balls of Catena from Lana Grossa (colour 202) on 10mm needles. Normally I don't use stocking stitch for a scarf because it will curl but I love the look of this yarn in stocking stitch.

Catena comes in great mixed colours as well as solids.

Before work yesterday I blocked Pogona and hung it on the fence to block.  It was dry and looking great when I got home last night.

I think that Beth and I are going to finish off last season of Grey's Anatomy tonight.  Hopefully I will be finishing the Linen Stitch Scarf at the same time.

There is no Thanksgiving turkey dinner for us this weekend.  We had it last weekend so tomorrow night will be steak on the barbecue.  Can't complain about a barbecue dinner in this weather-there will be lots of time in the dead of winter to cook inside.

Roko is bugging me to take him outside and play ball with him. This weather has the dogs very excited.

Is it really October?

It doesn't happen very often but today I wish I had a 9-5 job.  Why?  The weather is beautiful and I could call in sick to go golfing.  :)

My morning was busy before coming to work.  The house needed to be tidied because the cleaning ladies are coming this afternoon.  Then onto my shawl.  Ten minutes with Phil and some Soak and it was ready to be blocked.

I wanted to really stretch out my shawl so I pinned it on the fence to dry.

The order of new Classic Elite just arrived.  Magnolia.

The sheen on the yarn is beautiful.  When you see the small swatches the colours look nice but when you see them in person you will say WOW!!  From Classic Elite's website
An exquisite blend of merino and silk, Magnolia has a subtle sheen and great stitch definition. The semi-solid colors give magnolia the illusion of light reflecting off the surface of the fabric. Magnolia's elegance is perfect for dressy, special occasions or for everyday luxury.

It knits to a true double knitting weight (22 stitches=4" on 4mm needles).  70% merino and 30% silk in a machine washable yarn.  What more can you ask for?

This fall Classic Elite has done booklets for each yarn.  There are five designs for Magnolia.

Sassafras

A multi-sized cowl worked in the round in a reversible stitch.

There are three sizes available.

Royal Empress

A garter stitch scarf with tapered ends and a subtle ruffle along the curved edge.

Hawthorn

A short sleeve raglan tunic with berry branch detail above the knit-in pockets.

There are five sizes available.

Silverbell

A one-button shrug with leaf motifs, worked from the top down.  Sleeves are knit in the round.

The pattern is written in five sizes.

Cherry

A double stranded cardigan with a moss stitch collar and edges, worked from the top down.

A pattern for everyone-there are seven sizes.

I seriously wish that I didn't need to sleep.  There are so many things that I need/want to knit right now.
