Some knitters like to knit socks in between big projects – I like to knit baby sweaters. Someone is always having a baby. These days I am just as likely to know the grandmother as the mother who's expecting, but it doesn't matter to me – baby things are so much fun to knit! Their petite size makes them a finished object in a flash and the perfect break between bigger, longer or more complicated projects. This cardigan is knit out of Liberty Wool from Classic Elite.
This week's pattern is my go-to baby cardigan. Knit from the top down, this version has solid colored stripes layered on the yoke of the self-striping Liberty Wool Print. Options: Omit the stripes or add more stripes; or work the edges in Garter stitch instead of rib.
Liberty Wool is a super-soft, washable wool available in solid and printed colors. This yarn's balanced twist will make all stitch combinations pop.Liberty is one of my all time favourite yarns. It is soft. Easy to knit with. The colours are great. I like it so much that I'm knitting an afghan.
With all the great qualities of wool and the ease of machine washability, Liberty Wool knits at a gauge that suits many designs and is ideal for children's pieces as well as those for adults.
Mighty Miters is growing. Right now the pattern is only available with the purchase of Liberty Wool.
It was hard to get the whole throw in a picture. It's a bit wide.
Here are close ups so you can see the colours better.
Melo decided that he needed in on the action. Yes, you might say that I'm a bit obsessed. It's easy knitting. You are starting with 67 stitches and decreasing every wrong side row. After one diamond you have the pattern memorized. Now it's time to get back to it. I might be able to finish another diamond tonight.
The baby sweater is adorable!
