Totally Tessellated

Andrea Mowry has a new sock pattern.

You can purchase the pattern for Totally Tessellated on Ravelry.

I couldn’t turn down the chance to morph the Tessellated Pullover & Vest into an awesome pair of socks! The Totally Tessellated socks are knit from the cuff down, using the magic of slipped stitches to create an addictive 3 color sock with an afterthought heel!

Andrea used a skein of fingering weight yarn, a skein of Dyed in the Wool and a Suri Alpaca/Silk blend like Suri Silk from Emma’s.

Here are colours that are very close to what Andrea used. Tough Love Sock in Cypress. Dyed in the Wool in Mississippi Marsala. Suri Silk in Love & Leche.
For this combination I took out the Suri Silk and put in Rowan’s Alpaca Classic colour 131. Alpaca Classic is slightly thicker but I think it will be okay.
Tough Love Sock in Cypress. Edition 3 in 2515. Rowan Alpaca Classic in 131.
Tough Love Sock in Silver. Edition 3 in 2471. Alpaca Classic in 112, 123 and 108.

If you don’t want a ‘fluffy’ yarn in your socks you can use another fingering weight to replace it. You don’t need much (under 100 yards) so you might have something in your stash. Or you can use mini skeins.
Ambah O’Brien has posted pictures in her Ravelry group for new Advent patterns that are coming soon.

Euphorbia Wrap

Euphorbia Wrap has elegantly tapered ends and is worked sideways with decreases forming a central spine. With its chevron shaping and stripes, Euphorbia is an invitation to play with colour and texture. Designed to use a 24-colour DK weight mini skein set, the options are endless; striped, faded, make it scraptastic and use up all those delicious end balls or use colour-changing yarn for a lovely result. Mix up the texture and use a kidsilk or “fluff” yarn in place of one colour. Equally dramatic results can also be enjoyed by simply using two contrasting colours. Euphorbia Wrap is knit tip to tip with shaping which creates interest in this garter stitch project. You’ll find the resulting wrap easy to wear and style. It’s sure to become a wardrobe favourite.

Passiflora Wrap

The Passiflora Wrap was designed with a festive 12- or 24- colour mini skein set in mind. There are so many possibilities – add colours in randomly, arrange your minis in a gradient fade, or use a main colour and alternate with 12 mini skeins. This is also a perfect way to use up all those leftover yarns hiding in your stash. Simple garter stitch keeps this a mindless knit with an eyelet pattern adding chevron interest; some fun shaping and the regular colour changes will keep you wanting to knit on.

We still have Advent kits from Hedgehog Fibres or you can make your own with mini skeins.
Pelargonium scarf is coming 1st December. Free as always!

I was in the store for a bit this morning to mail out parcels and then I had to run some errands. I’ll make more colour suggestions for the socks tomorrow.
