Killer Queen

This is the Killer Queen Cowl (pattern purchased on Ravelry). Diana finished the cowl and dropped it off yesterday. She loved making the cowl and is now making it as Christmas gifts. She said it was interesting with some new stitches but it wasn’t hard. I wore it for the afternoon and it was very comfortable.

A generously sized, asymmetrical cowl worked on the bias with 3 different stitch patterns--a great way to show off a variegated colorway on a semi-solid background and add a bit of glam rock to your neck and shoulders. 

The neckline is even engineered to taper a bit towards the neck to reduce the amount of bulk at the neck but still fit easily over your head. 

There are 2 options for finishing the cowl: It may be sewn together at the edges, or you can add buttons and after-thought buttonholes with a crochet hook when the piece is finished.

Choosing colours was hard. The cowl is knit in Malabrigo Rios and there are so many combinations that would look great. Another shipment of Rios is arriving tomorrow and the website has been updated. You need 2 skeins of the main colour (the solid) and one of the contrast (colourful).

I took these pictures a few weeks ago and used them again because it was pouring rain and there was no way to get outdoor pictures.

Last night I was up way too late knitting and then I knit this afternoon. I finished Clue 1 and am onto Clue 2. I’m waiting until tomorrow for pictures. I want to knit a few more rows so the pattern shows up better.

Boscoe and Fred really want to get to the fish. Tomorrow the insulation company is coming to spray under the cottage. While they are doing that dad and Beth will be getting the cottage ready to close for the winter. When I see them Tuesday afternoon there are going to be 5 sad people. I have a feeling that the minute the ice is out in the spring Beth is going to be pestering the marina to get our boat in the water.
