We have new Party of Five kits from SweetGeorgia Yarns (and a restock of existing kits).

We love using a Party of Five kit to knit the Hitchhiker Scarf - pattern purchased on Ravelry. We used 3.75mm needles for ours. Once you get going this is a mindless project. Knit every row.

Garter stitch. It‘s simple, its warm and squishy, stretchy and reversible and it makes any variegated, hand-dyed sockyarn really shine. So here‘s Hitchhiker: It is a narrow, slightly asymmetrically shaped triangular shawlette that can be wrapped around the neck several times. The ends are long enough to tie it with a knot. One of the short sides of the triangle features a saw-tooth border that evolves naturally during the knitting and gives the shawl its unusual shape. Because the knitting starts at one end, you can stop anytime, bind off and end up with a useful neckerchief, shawlette or shawl. A perfect project to relax in between more complicated ones, also very suitable for beginners and young knitters.
This is Ambah O’Brien’s ADVENTurous Wrap. I am using three Party of Five kits. One kit plus two skeins for each half of the shawl.
Here is the second half. After a few rows you will have the pattern memorized. This is a great project for traveling or sitting at one of your children’s activities. This is Ambah’s shawl. You can purchase the pattern on her website.
The Adventurous Wrap was designed with a Yarn Advent Calendar in mind, to make the most of daily mini skein gifts that appear. There are so many possibilities - add colours in randomly, arrange your minis in a gradient fade, or use a main colour and alternate with mini skeins. This is also a perfect way to use up all those leftover yarns hiding in your stash. Simple garter stitch keeps this a mindless knit; some fun shaping and the regular colour changes will keep you wanting to knit on. What adventure will you take with your Adventurous Wrap?
I was late to work this morning. I don’t think we got as much snow as they said we would be there was enough to make the roads near me unpleasant. With the way the wind is blowing tonight the roads aren’t going to be any better tomorrow. I’m heading to bed so I can start out earlier tomorrow and make it on time.
Your shawls are beautiful. I agree it's important to have an easy/quick/no brainer project to work on between the more complicated ones. It's good for the brain and for the fingers. Our pups enjoy the snow, too, but we don't get quite as much here as you do there. :) Happy Winter! Hopefully, Spring weather arrives soon.
