Jackson Day One

Jackson wasn’t in love with his carrier. He wailed the whole drive from the breeder to Calgary (almost 2 hours). Lucky for Beth he was tired before they boarded the plane and he slept.

It was a hard day at work.
His crate. You can section it off so it isn’t too big for him. When he grows we will take out the divider. So far he has been very good about going in.

While I was finishing the newsletter I kept looking up to see the Party of Five kits from SweetGeorgia
Each set contains five 105-yards mini skeins for a total of 525 yds / 480 m of Tough Love Sock (80% Superwash merino, 20% Nylon).
Here are a few pattern suggestions

With the sultry gradients from our Party of Five sets, Fan & Feather stitch comes alive in this popular asymmetrical shawl shape. Soft texture, gradual increases, and decadent lace promise an accessory that will delight every knitter.

This shawl is worked sideways from point to edge, increasing gradually on one side. The pattern is written to fully utilize the yardage of the mini-skeins, working each colour until it runs out completely and then joining in the next colour mid-row. You may join the new colour by wet-splice (for a more natural transition) or by double-stranding for a few stitches. You may use any method you prefer to join the new colour. Colours A and E are worked on the Garter stitch rows in the Fan Pattern. Colours B, C, and D are worked on the lace rows in the Fan pattern. The shawl can be worked in one colour by simply disregarding the colour change indications.

The Fan Pattern is both written (see Stitch Instructions) and charted (page 3) for your preference.

You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

Mosaic style colourwork can almost feel like cheating, working stripes and slipped stitches with only one colour at a time. That beautiful simplicity paired with two Party of Five sets results in a show-stopping piece that captivates from start to finish.

You can purchase the pattern for Ailey on Ravelry.

There is something else that the Party of Five kits would work for. Did you know that Stephen West has a new workshop that you can purchase online?

Read more about the workshop and sign up. There is an amazing shawl pattern that comes with the workshop - The Painting Stripes Shawl.

The pattern will be available in November but who can wait that long??
