Pretty in Pink

Lynn was busy knitting this weekend.

She starting on Joji’s Lightweight Hipster in Malabrigo Sock colour 722. The colour is gorgeous.
Do you remember the original Hipster Shawl pattern?
And if you don’t, do you have a bit of time and just 1 skein of fingering weight yarn around you? I promise this is the coolest quickest and lightest shawl you’ll ever knit (and you’ll feel instantly transported to the coolest, little known coffeeshop in town)…

Some knitters are intimidated by the stitches that are crossed. Joji’s instructions are very easy to follow. Just do exactly what she says.

Pull out some scrap yarn (thicker than fingering weight) and cast on 16 stitches. The pattern repeat is 6 stitches so this will let you repeat the pattern twice with 2 stitches on either side for an edge. Now you can try it (and rip out if necessary) before starting your shawl.

Lykke Blush sets have arrived. Talk about Pretty in Pink.

Lynn was straightening Tough Love Sock this morning and we put together some combinations for Ambah O’Briens Bambara Wrap. I have knit this and loved every minute of it.

Bambara wrap was inspired by a walk in my local bush. The greens of the landscape were translated perfectly into yarn by Primrose Yarn Co, who dyed the amazing colours based on my forest walk inspiration.
Bambara is a generously-sized wrap, knit on the bias with simple shaping and alternating sections of lace and garter. The colours and patterns weave together like the layers of a melody, calling to mind the iconic sound of The Cure’s A Forest. It’s the perfect opportunity to play with colour – use a 3-skein gradient with a coordinating contrast colour, mix speckles and solids in 4 different colours for a fun, bold look, or keep it subtle with neutral solids.
Stargazers
Alpenglow
Spacewalk

I should have put Stargazers (the purple mix) in between Alpenglow and Spacewalk - like the picture below. After we do a pretty picture we turn the labels over so that we know the colour names. It’s not a pretty picture and I wouldn’t have shared but this is the correct order I think.

Peacock
Out of the Woods
Torrent
Spacewalk
If you aren’t looking for a shawl this big you can choose 2 colours to make Kallara (purchase the pattern on Etsy)
Go subtle or go bold with this fun shawl. Opt for gentle stripes for a neutral shawl, perfect for any occasion, then knit another in your favourite brights, neons, gradient or speckled hues teamed with a strong solid for a show-stopping accessory.
Kallara features a slightly asymmetrical, shallow triangular shape with long tapered ends. Sitting comfortably on the shoulders without too much bulk, it’s adaptable enough to be worn as a wrap, shawl, or scarf.
Malabrigo shared another finished Temperance Shawl - the colours are amazing. They listed the colours that they used but I made kits with colours that look like the shawl (there was a difference).

My post is either late (should have been posted yesterday) or really early because normally I don’t hit Publish until the early evening.
