Day of Cathy

The pattern is the Parallelogram Scarf (purchased on Ravelry) and Cathy used Freia Shawl Balls in Aurora and Cloud. You need one ball of each. I love it and Cathy left it in the store. She might not get it back!
This scarf is worked on the bias with two different long-repeat yarns to create a soft, reversible, textured fabric.
Working simultaneously with two long-repeat balls like the ones from Freia fibers is entertaining because the color play between the balls evolves with the knitting. The repeats are so long they can extend across an entire ball, and the choice for the start has a big effect on the final look.
Take a look at other finished projects on Ravelry for colour ideas.
Cathy said that the pattern is very easy - a beginner could make this scarf.

Shawl Ball was my addition to the website today. We laid out every colour to make sure that my numbers were correct.
Fiber: Single ply 100% US Merino Wool (mulesing-free)
Care: Hand Wash
Ball Size: 100g/3.53 oz - 393 meters/430 yards
Gauge: 20-28 sts/28-36 rows over 4” on US3 (3.25mm) - US7 (4.5mm) needles
From now until 8pm EST on Monday March 18, Shawl Ball is 15% off if purchase 2 or more balls online with the code SHAWLBALL.

I just added a feature to the website for In Store Pick Up. Korey and I debated this. We're going to try it and see how it goes. He has had clients who added this option and customers would click it thinking they were getting free shipping. I told him that my customers were smarter than that.

Cathy used one ball of Lirico to make the Sanibel Cowl (pattern free on Ravelry). It was going to be a present for her mom but I think she is going to keep it for herself.

Her current project is the Trolley Tracks Infinity Scarf (purchased on Ravelry). She is using one skein of Fino with her leftovers.

We had a few minutes with no customers in the store so Cathy made a pompom for one of Beth's hats. We used the Clover Pompom Maker.

Voila - a perfect pompom.

Tip of the Day
Take your finished pompom and hold it over boiling water. The steam will fluff it up. Then trim.

Beth is on her way to Myrtle Beach to spend a few days with dad. I'm heading out to get some dinner and then an evening of knitting. And whatever I want to watch on TV.
