Sode is a saddle shoulder, open front cardigan knitted from the top down in one piece using the contiguous method. The deep shawl collar is picked up and worked with German short rows after knitting the body. There is minimal finishing, only a bit of sewing after blocking to fix the sides of the pockets to the cardigan. The pockets are knitted at the same time as the body. The cuffs are extra long and worn doubled.
Due to the intricate construction and extensive cabling, this cardigan is best suited for advanced knitters. Techniques used include top down contiguous knitting, cabled lifted directional increases, German short rows, and three-needle bind-off. The cables, shoulder, neck and pocket shaping are charted and not fully transcribed. As this cardigan is heavily cabled, knowing how to cable without a cable needle is a distinct advantage.
The Poet pullover is knitted seamlessly from the top down. The neck shaping is worked flat after which the rest of the pullover is worked in the round. The lace pattern is knitted on both front and back. The raglan sleeves are of ¾ length with long cuffs that can be folded double. The sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch. The neckband is worked last by picking up stitches along the cast-on edge. Due to the raglan increases worked in the lace pattern this pattern is better suited for intermediate and advanced knitters.
Afterparty is worked seamlessly (apart from a few sts to be grafted at the underarms) in stockinette stitch in the round from the bottom up – first the body and then the sleeves until the underarms. The yoke is then worked featuring a simple colourwork pattern in two colours. The sweater has a slight A-line shape.See all the garments...
The Technicolor Cowl is an easy knit. All you need to know is knit and purl. The cowl is made with 8 mini skeins of Dream in Color Classy on 5.5mm needles.
With its 100% superwash merino base and just the right amount of twist, Classy is the quintessential worsted-weight yarn. The fiber content, combined with our unique dyeing process, gives Classy its deep and lushly-shaded tones, while the plied texture lends crisp stitch definition to everything from lace to cables.
I found two boxes of mini skeins at home. I'm making them into kits and they are going to the Woodstock Fleece Festival. Until then they will be in the store. Yes, I am marking them down. It's fall cleaning around here. The kits were originally $64 and we have them priced at $35.
I'm writing early today because Beth and I are helping with a charity event tonight. We have some new samples to show tomorrow. Thanks Lynda!
