Hats

I spent some time this morning working on the website. All the new Party of Five kits from SweetGeorgia are online.

I used a Party of Five kit to make Hitchhiker. This is an amazing, easy to wear scarf. It wraps nicely and is small enough to wear under a coat. I made one change to the pattern. The designer, Martina Behm suggests 3mm needles. I used 3.75mm for mine.
Garter stitch. It‘s simple, its warm and squishy, stretchy and reversible and it makes any variegated, hand-dyed sock yarn really shine. So here‘s Hitchhiker: It is a narrow, slightly asymmetrically shaped triangular shawlette that can be wrapped around the neck several times. The ends are long enough to tie it with a knot. One of the short sides of the triangle features a saw-tooth border that evolves naturally during the knitting and gives the shawl its unusual shape. Because the knitting starts at one end, you can stop anytime, bind off and end up with a useful neckerchief, shawlette or shawl. A perfect project to relax in between more complicated ones, also very suitable for beginners and young knitters.

We asked the knitters who came to Camp to bring us knit hats, mitts, scarves and cowls. Did they ever come through. Dad and Beth are delivering them to 541 tomorrow.
541 Eatery & Exchange is a non-profit café on Barton Street East, where you can pay-it-forward by turning dollars into buttons. Anyone can use 5 buttons from the jar each day as $5 towards a good meal, which helps feed those who need help paying, but also nurtures a diverse community of belonging around the table.
We are an eatery; offering fresh, homemade meals and baked goods. We are committed to providing food that is affordable, nutritious and family-friendly.
We are a place of exchange; where people can share with one another. We use our space and the proceeds from food sales to facilitate community initiatives such as skills training opportunities and youth programming.
541 has become a favourite spot of our family to grab a quick delicious lunch and have the opportunity to help others at the same time.
On one of the walls of the café they have a space where people can leave hand-made scarves and hats. These are free to take for anyone who needs not just a warm meal but also something to protect them on our cold winter days. We have been making a bunch of hats for the wall but many more are needed. If you have the chance to make one for donation and bring it to camp, I am sure that I will be able to find some knitting dollars to thank you for your contribution.
The latest Twist Collective is available online. I'm sad to share that this will be the last issue. From Kate - the editor.
Dear Readers,We have some sad news. After ten years of great work, Twist's last issue is the September issue. This decision was not made easily, and we all have a very heavy heart, but with the changing face of the industry, it’s time to close this chapter and think about new adventures.
Thank you for all of your support. Patterns will be available on Ravelry and Twist Collective through the end of 2018. After that, individual designers will publish as they like.
When you are flipping through the patterns, make sure you stop and look at Peryton. It is an stunning shawl knit with Woolstok from Blue Sky Fibers.
