Amalia

It's just over two weeks until I get on an airplane. My mind is working overtime to come up with the knitting that will be coming with me. Not just any knitting. Easy pattern. One colour. Doesn't take up a lot of room. That kind of knitting. I spent a bit of time on Ravelry yesterday looking at patterns. Over the next few days I will show some of the patterns in the running.

Amalia

This is designed by Katherine Matthews - aka Purl Diving.
You need 480-640m of fingering weight yarn. The pattern has two sizes.
3.25mm and 4mm needles
It's perfect for the plane. The border is knit first. Then you pick up for the body which is done in garter stitch.
Amalia is a crescent shaped shoulder shawl with a lace border adapted from the Portuguese Edging in A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara G. Walker.
A wider edging with the lace worked on both sides combines with garter stitch short rows in a shoulder shawl designed to unleash the inner fadista* in any adventurous intermediate knitter.
Amalia can be made in two sizes, and the pattern includes both written and charted instructions along with a schematic for blocking to finished size.
Beads can be added too.

We have a sample hanging in the store knit in Mountain Colors Bearfoot.

If you like the shawl you can buy the pattern on Ravelry.

If this is the pattern I'm thinking tosh sock. Not sure on the colour yet. Leaning towards a purple. Shocker! :)

  1. I'm sure you will choose purple but that lime green is stunning.
